Yakuza 3 Remastered

I just started playing Yakuza 3 and i have a question. Is there some sort of substory finder in the game or do they just show up on the map?
submitted by conrrrado to yakuzagames [link] [comments]

In my opinion, showing substory markers on the map was a mistake.

I know it's a convenience thing, since if you're a completionist, it could get quite tiresome in the old days to run around aimlessly, looking for substories. I understand why they added map markers for it, but they also have a pretty major con in my opinion.
Finding substories used to require that you look around the game world to find them. You had to actually be there, and it really heightened immersion. You'd see a suspicious looking person standing outside a shop. As you approach, substory! Perhaps you're going into an alley you haven't been before, and suddenly.. substory! Kept you on your toes, you never knew when and where you could find them, and that made them all the more exciting.
All of that is gone since they added map markers. Now it feels less like you're organically exploring the city and being surprised by the whacky situation you find yourself in, and more like you're just checking off a list, going from waymark to waymark. This is the only thing I wish Like a Dragon would do differently so far. It would make my experience all the better.
Of course, like I said, I understand why they did it, I just preferred it without. Games like Yakuza 0 did it best, where substories were not marked on the map, but there was an optional sub story finder accessory to replace that feature.
What di you guys think? Agree? Disagree? Don't care? Have any other suggestions or input? Let's talk!

[GUIDE] Yakuza 0 Legendary Diffculty easy speedy Clear

Hello,
i went to complete Yakuza 0 trophys and saw that there was no real good easy speedy summary for what to do to clear Legendary Difficulty.
Im no expert in fighting and this is my first yakuza game but i made a solid "walkthrough" making it as easy as possible with spending as low time possible achieving it.
I will assume you have all the DLC for some Gear and Plates for money.
A Big thanks to CyricZ for his amazing Walkthrough without it this would be impossible.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/241144-yakuza-0/faqs/74451/introduction

---Kiryu:
-Styles
The Kiryu style to aim for is Brawler specifically "Drunken Master" Kiryu.
While Drunk this makes you basically a tank and you hit really really hard.
You finish the Leisure King Buissnes to Unlock all Ranks(more to that later) and do all 5 trainings (Exspecially for the 3 Square and Double Triangle Combo)
Rush Style you go for full/mostly upgrades without Rank 4/5 and for all 5 trainings(this helps with money too).
Beast can be skipped completly but if you want you can do 1-2 Shakedowns to get some abilitys. The Trainings are a waste of time for what you get.

-Complitions Points
Battle :Up to Mr Shakedown Deep Pokets (50p) and Rest in Adventure . No Buisness needed.

-Substories and Activities (Money and CP)
With these and your normal Battling/Running around you should easely get enough CP during the Regular Playthrough to have Deep Pockets by the Time you get the Encounter Finder.(I had Deep Pockets by Chapter 3).
Sell items at the Pawn Shop (except 100mil Plate).

Chapter 2
Shogi (3)- do Challenge1 5 times and Get A Plate for the Points (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0Ad4gPPMWM)
Pool (1)- do the Easy Puzzle 3 Times with 3 Million Bet (https://youtu.be/NBkCkig_isQ)
Karaoke (5) - Sing all 5 Songs with 90+ Points
Dancing (15) - All Songs all Difficulties - Not easy but this are the fastest CP/Time you can get - No Substories here
Beefbowl (1) - You only have to eat Twice
Food items (3) - Eat 30 Foot Items [K/M Shared]
Medicine (3) - Use 30 Medicine Items [K/M Shared]
Run/Dash 10km (3) - sometimes i forget to do it [K/M Shared]

Substories
#7 - How To Train Your Dominatrix - for the Fur Belly Warmer + Buisness
#9 - The Show Must Go On - for Necklace
#12 - Miracle on Tenkaichi Street (this can be Hard) - Choose Black for Silent Shoes + Buisness
#51 - Miho, Convenience Store Clerk - Buy Food items (max 30) and Max Friendship (Property)

Shakedown: do them as much as Possible but dont seek them actively for now. Use the Rushstyle Tactic or later Slime/Zap Gun Tactic. I for my Self did them without using the Guns a single Time since i think its cheap but this took ofc more Time.

Do the Brawler and Rush Trainings (need 100mil for Final . TIP: there is a DLC Plate that is worth 100mil )

Chapter 5 and 6:
Substories #23 - Miracle in Maharaja - Black for Encounter Finder (You dont have to Win the Dance if you do you are a Miracle).

Unlock Kiryu Dragon and Tiger : Buy Security Wallet and if you want Slime Guns.

Farm Shakedown with Mr SD DeepPockets and the Encounter Finder. EnteExit Places to make him Respawn/Change Places. Invest in Abilities but Save up around 105Mil.

Do the Leisure King Area - Buy all Properties (Around 105 Mil) and get the Convience Store. Ignore Sushi Bar. 2-3 Collecting Runs should get you 100%. No Need for Upgrades (But if you do get the Mama from Earth Angel). Unlocks Brawler 4/5.

Substories #25 #26 #27 - Postcards - Do How To Train Your Dominatrix, Miracle on Tenkaichi Street and Miracle in Maharaja for Herculan Gloves : Grap now Works now on Most Bosses have fun in Brawler.

Finish Farming Mr Shakedown. Use Rush till Full 3rd Heatbar and then go (Drunken Master) Brawler.

Chapter 13:
Buy Chain Shirt or Regal Chain Shirt if available.
For the Car Chase is suggest using Heat/Slow Mode sparingly till the Maschinegun Car. Relaod after every "Group" of enemys. Good Luck vs Copter.

Later Chapters (15+):
Nothing except buying things in Dragon and Tiger what you Unlock with Majima - Mails/Shirts (for Endgame Dragon Mail) and Boozer Belt (you should get it while searching for the Mails/Materials)
If you dont want to do D&T: Fur Belly Warmer , Herculan Gloves and Silent Shoes/Security Wallet are your best bet but the Upgrades are segnificant.

---Majima

-Styles
The Nr 1 Style is Breaker for general but i find exspecially for Majima that all 3 are important in their own way.

Thug: You only Fully Unlock Thug style. Now what important is how much you Like Thug Style. If you like it you are in Luck: Fully/Mostly Upgrade it.
If not go for at Least Health Upgrades but i suggest doing the Dmg Upgrades too and maybe even the Heat Related ones.
I Suggest do all the Trainings but it can be skipped.

Breaker: Fully/Mostly Upgrade but without 4/5 Ranks. Training: the Essence of Friendly Fire and Essence of Blade Biting are a must. Rest is Optional but ofc Helps.

Slugger: Fully/Mostly Upgrade but without 4/5 Ranks: No training needed

Why all 3 Styles? There is a Rotation Combo for Majima that works for most Bosses (Lao Gui is a Joke with this) and devastetes Mr Shakedown. You dont need Upgrades of any kind for this to work but they make it easier ofc
Bosses: Thug till full 3rd Heatbar . Try to knock them down without using Heat (Square/Triangle Combos or Grap -> Triangle). Change to Slugger style and while they are Standing up use the "Enemy Stand Still Heat Action" to knock them down for longer dont use this to early or you will get the Enemy on the Ground Heat action. [If they are not on the Ground/knocked down simply change to Slugger with 3 Full Heatbars and Run Around them till they Stand Still and the Heat Action Trigger appears (Needs some Training)]. Change to Breaker (1 Heatbar should still be full) press Square till you are on the Ground and the Go Triangle to go for the Ground Whirlwind . This depletes the Healthbar significally. Do it till the Pose. Stand Up and Repeat.
(This Breaker style should be used on regular enemys too since the "Handstand" Whirlwind does significant less damage (doesnt target ground) and the time between the both whirlwinds is literally 1 square press).
Mr Shakedown: Is Basically the Same. Thug Style till full 3rd Heatbar.Change to Slugger > Wait for Charge > Run behind him and wait for him to Turn > Standstill Heat Action so he is grounded. Change to Breaker. Ground Whirlwind till Pose > Retreat with X and Change to Thug. Repeat.
!WARNING! There 2 Different "Grounded" Animations. A Animation where he is Grounded for a Longtime (Mostly Curled up) and a Second much Shorter one where he curles up shortly then lies flat on the belly and stands up. This early standing up usually appears while you just begun the ground Breaker Style animation. If this happens retreat immitialy and begin from the start. I notticed the Fuller the 3rd Heatbar is the more likely it is to have the long curl up animation.

-Complitions Points
Put some in Battle (Roughly 50) but its not Really Important but helps regardless and Rest in Adventure . No Buisness needed.

-Substories and Activities (Money and CP)
Get DLC Items for Hawker's Belly Warmer and Slime Gun

Karaoke (5) - Sing all 5 Songs with 90+ Points
Dancing (15) - All Songs all Difficulties - Not easy but this are the fastest CP/Time you can get - No Substories here
Food items (3) - Eat 30 Foot Items [K/M Shared]
Medicine (3) - Use 30 Medicine Items [K/M Shared]
Run/Dash 10km (3) - sometimes i forget to do it [K/M Shared]

Chapter 3

Before Visiting the Odyssee visit with the 3 Information points. It just a little out of the way but nets you 3 Carbaret Girls and maybe you encounter Mr SD (use Slimegun?).

Unlock Dragon and Tiger and do the Starting Stuff (Search and Craft 1 Item) . Buy Silent Shoes.

Substories
#78 - The Doll Girl for Secret Wallet and Doll Girl Carbaret Girl
Optional: #65 - The Obatarian Strikes . The Granny Rocks in Carbaret while it is not needed but the Story is reasonably Short.
#58 - Stadium Jumper Strut . This will net you the Encounter Finder for Majima but this is the Hardest Escort mission in the Game for me.
You can later Simply buy the Encounter Finder from D&T in Chapter 7 after Kiryu gets his (CH5).

Chapter 4:
You can Start Searching for Slime/Zapgun in Hunters' Village using the Adventurer but a run Costs at least 5.7 mil to be worth it.

Get Breaker Style and do the Trainings suggested Above. If you have the Encounter Finder already Start Farming Mr SD. Otherwise do him At 2-4 Times to Buff your Abilities exspecially Breaker. Use the Combo above or Slime/Zapguns. Save up 21 Mil.
Makoto Escort: This can be tricky because if Makoto is grabbed more than 2 Times its over .But there is a simple Solution! Stand next to Makoto and while the enemy Approach start Breaker Style on the Spot and do the Ground Whirlwind near Makoto (explained Above) this will clear most Enemys immitially and make it easier. Or use a Shotgun/Cannon that you searched from D&T.

Chapter 7:
Do the Carbaret Club. Get Dolly (and Orbatarian). Find Akemi [East of the southwest Save Point (Wallet or Watch)]. Find Hiroko [Near the Taxi Stand on East Shofukucho (Coat or Scarf)]
Get all Properties from Club Mars except Grandhara. Finish up Club Mars (Only need 2-3 Runs) and Unlock Thug Style 4/5.
Find the Zapgun in D&T (if not already done so) and buy the Encounter Finder if you didnt do #58 earlier. Buy the Herculean Gloves if you Like Thug Style.
Finish Farming Mr SD. Upgrade Thug Style and the Rest like explained Above .

And you are done. All that is left is Main Story but i highly suggest doing these Optional Things which make it significally easier later.

Chapter 11 (Optional but should be Done cause its Easy and Fast) you need at least 200 mil from here onward or just do an additional Mr SD.
Dragon and Tiger try to get a Chain Shirt and the Recipe for Regal Chain Shirt . If you are Lucky enough you get the Regal Shirt Itself but dont try it too often.
Search in W.E - The Guild using The Smuggler which in himself has a Mail as a lucky find. Reduce the search Time to 5-10 Seconds. Do it at most 5 Times and then Reload but 2-3 should be enough.
Equip the Chain Shirt (Or Regal).
If you want you can search for the Boozer Belt(Kiryu) use International Spy in JPN Blacksmiths' Village or JPN Karate Master for Materials for later. Or search the recipe in JPN - Local Dojo.
Chapter 15 (Optional and Luck Based)
The Search for the Dragon Mail. The Recipe Itself is easy to find in JPN - Hidden Ninja Village (Which doesnt always Show up) but the Problem finding the Mail itself or the Materials.
The Pirate Captain which you should be using for searching the Recipe is easyly gets you the Mystery Stone but the Provincial Dojo Certificate (DrMail) and Golden Seal (RChain) can be tricky.
Both can be Found in either JPN Blacksmiths' Village or JPN Karate Master using the International Spy (till you have Boozer Belt) and after that the ones with the largest Bag.
If you are Lucky this takes 2-3 searches...if you are unlucky...well but its worth the protection.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 Review (No Spoilers)

Yakuza Kiwami 2 feels like the first proper Yakuza game to use the Dragon Engine, but that’s more to the credit of the source material of Yakuza 2 than what was added in the remake. Indeed, for the main story it feels like the studio achieved the bare minimum to recreate the content from the original Yakuza 2. It’s understandable as this is a budget title, but I couldn’t help wishing that more was done to flesh out the core game, such as additional voice acting. Instead we get a mostly faithful recreation of Yakuza 2 in a stunning new engine, minus some cut story sections, a few recast characters and some swapped out music tracks. It won’t bother first time players, but nothing that was changed to the main story felt like an improvement either.
That’s okay though because the main story of Yakuza 2 is still a joy to go through in all of its original absurdity. This is enhanced by exploring beautiful recreations of both Kamurocho and Sotenbori along the way. Going seamlessly in and out of shops without loading screens(mostly), traversing occasional shortcuts between and through buildings, and finding abundant locker keys culminate in two areas that are a joy to explore and bounce between. Where Yakuza 6’s Kamurocho struggled to maintain a steady framerate on my Original PS4, Kiwami 2 retains solid performance throughout both cities and excellent lighting effects really help showcase the engine.
Combat is improved but retains the core components of Yakuza 6, as well as it’s upgrade system, so if you played 6 you’ll know what to expect here. The biggest improvement in Kiwami 2 mirrors that of the original Yakuza 2, the inclusion of a wide variety of weapons you can purchase or even pick up and retain in your inventory. There is a greater variety of heat actions to be unlocked than 6, although not as many as previous games. Dragon Engine physics remain hilariously wonky and camera angles can be problematic in small areas. Multiple heath bars are back, although I hardly noticed with how fast I could rip through them on normal difficulty. Although it’s not challenging the variety and progression of combat and unlockable abilities kept me much more entertained throughout my 25 hour playthrough than when going through them in 6.
What elevates Yakuza Kiwami 2 for me is the pacing. The healthy collection of substories (helped by a substory finder unlockable from the start) unlock steadily, and offer enjoyable distractions and occasional enhancements to the main story. Even the main story has a handful of moments that feel like substories, but help to serve a purpose for developing the main plot. This helps bring the eccentric world of Yakuza to life and makes you feel like your time isn’t wasted, which I prefer to the later PS3 games that dragged on more than I liked. Majima’s story on the other hand was not developed enough and I would have liked more than three short chapters of cutscenes accentuated by a few fights. I spent some time with the usual minigames, but none of the new ones drew me in. The recurring cabaret club and clan creator minigames aren’t really my thing so I avoided these, but they are there in full force for those who want to return to them.
Ultimately Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a recreation of a game I have already played in a series I have put hundreds of hours in that managed to pull me in from beginning to end through its outlandish story, memorable characters, and rewarding pacing. Kiwami 2 gives me hope that whatever comes next for Yakuza will be enjoyable, and I can only hope the studio can get the budget it deserves to fully develop it.

Questions about Yakuza Kiwami

So I just finished Yakuza 0 (new to the franchise) a few days ago and picked up Yakuza Kiwami on Bestbuy today since I fell in love with the story of the game. I'm currently on Chapter 4 and I have some questions regarding the game. Thanks in advance.
  1. I want to know how many chapters are there in the game?
  2. Also what are the best things to buy with CP, I've only purchased up to Trouble Finder to make it easier to find substories but I don't know what else is worth it.
  3. Will there be a money making side mission in the game later like Kiryu's real estate and the Cabaret Club for Majima in Yakuza 0? If there's none then what are some ways to make money? Is money crucial in this game like Yakuza 0 or not?
  4. Question about the Majima Sensor, while walking around town sometimes I hear a sound "Kiryu-chan". I assume that's Majima but how do I find him? I try looking into streets but I cannot find him. Is he hiding?

tIP: Collect and spend your CP as soon as you can!

For newcomers or for anyone wanting to get the absolute most out of Yakuza Kiwami I can't stress enough how essential spending those CPs wisely.
You can collect them simply by beating up guys on the street, interacting with NPC's, eating at restaurents, spending money, playing minigames and pretty much every other interaction with the game.
You can unlock and equip buzzers that will make a sound when you are near locker keys and MesuKing cards, I have found SO much more simply by walking up and down the street with these equipped and as you know, pretty useful for that MesuKing substory.
The most important, the TroubleFinder.. once equipped will show ALL the substories on your map as soon as they available, no more googling and looking up guides! Time saved, yay.
So as soon as you are able, get exploring and get yourself used to the game and after a short while you will have all these essential unlocks to see all the game has to offer. I understand everyone plays it differently and you're fine to ignore this, but it's just something i've done and found useful so thought i'd share.

Mr. Shakedown bug?

I've started premium adventure mode trying to 100% Yakuza 0. The only problem is that I can only find Mr.Shakedown sleeping.(I've already done all the requirements for Majima) I have no idea if you can find him in Osaka as Kiryu and I don't have the encounter finder. Am I boned for choosing the CP-perk that makes him fall asleep? Is there a way to share Equipment between Majima an Kiryu?
Edit: Holy shit. I just encountered him going to all his sleeping spots and he just rolled up on me. Finding him 10 more times wont be easy though. I got his substory(which I had gotten the first time I encountered him) and Kiryu had some kind of "amnesia". Probably a bug.
