Posted: 23 Aug 2018 11:30 pm So i just beat Yakuza Kiwami right after Yakuza 0(one of the best game i have ever played) and im completely shocked how indescribable bad this game was. Literally everything about this game is bad. The most annoying secondary characters, absolutely inappropriate boring music(i don't know how is this possible, because yakuza 0 had AMAZING music) and even almost every second substorie was crap Yakuza Kiwami 2 feels like the first proper Yakuza game to use the Dragon Engine, but that’s more to the credit of the source material of Yakuza 2 than what was added in the remake. Indeed, for the main story it feels like the studio achieved the bare minimum to recreate the content from the original Yakuza 2. It’s understandable as this is a budget title, but I couldn’t help wishing I personally played Kiwami 1, then 0, then got Kiwami 2. Played it for a week, then had to take a break because I felt a bit overwhelmed from the sheer amount of things to do. And my boyfriend who bought it for me on our anniversary and I were having some troubles, so it was emotionally taxing to play it. Came back about a month afterwards, and boom, here's my review. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is exceptional, and if any of what I mentioned in this review sounds like your cup of tea then get it. It’s a solid game with great gameplay and an exceptional story. What makes a Yakuza game great is the ability to lose yourself in the experience, and this game delivers on that. Like any good JRPG it’s heavy on story with a great variety of distractions, and it’s a JRPG In 2017, I played two new Yakuza games. In 2018, I’ve played two more, with a Fist of the North Star spinoff on the way. The latest, Yakuza Kiwami 2, is a modernized remake of Yakuza 2, made in (Ambient Occlusion On VS Ambient Occlusion Off) Below you will see how SSAO impacts a more neutral scene, and see that in many cases not using SSAO will not result in a noticeable decrease in game detail ( outside of a side by side comparison). yes, scenes will seem brighter without it, but overall little changes within Yakuza Kiwami 2. Kiwami 2 has the charged punch and kicks while 6 doesn't but more object based heat gauge actions like chopsticks. I feel 6's heat action gauge meter was better than Kiwami 2. 6 had orbs so you know you have heat actions. Also I swear when you get one orb it's hard to lose it. Kiwami 2 enemies can surround you easily to the point you lose bars quickly. The Yakuza series stands as a unique marriage of brutal, gritty realism and off-the-wall, insane absurdity. Packed between the opening title and end credits of Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an absolute smorgasbord of experiences that, from the outside, shouldn’t work together as well as they do.The game defies expectations and somehow makes the eclectic range of themes in Yakuza Kiwami 2 work together
