gambling sites australia - win

TIL You can bet on Music in Australia? You can bet on Sports gambling site which song will out rate each other.

Every year on Australia Day, a radio station in Australia plays off the top 100 songs of the previous year, as voted by listeners (apparently) called the Hottest 100. Its been going since late 80s early 90s. I first heard about it in 1997 when I saw an album for it, it's was great way to get yourself into some Alternative music. Happy to here it's still going, although this year it will play on the Saturday 27th January 2018, a day after Australia Day.
I have heard all people do on Australia day is get drunk in a pool and listen to Triple J hottest 100.... but to be able to gamble on this? Doesn't seem moral. However if you car it looks like Gang of Youths is a clear favourite to Lord in the head to head.

"I think I've lived long enough to see competitive Counter-Strike as we know it, kill itself." Summary of Richard Lewis' stream (Long)

I want to preface that the contents of this post is for informational purposes. I do not condone or approve of any harassments or witch-hunting or the attacking of anybody.

Richard Lewis recently did a stream talking about the terrible state of CS esports and I thought it was an important stream anyone who cares about the CS community should listen to.
Vod Link here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/830415547
I realize it is 3 hours long so I took it upon myself to create a list of interesting points from the stream so you don't have to listen to the whole thing, although I still encourage you to do so if you can.
I know this post is still long but probably easier to digest, especially in parts.
Here is a link to my raw notes if you for some reason want to read through this which includes some omitted stuff. It's in chronological order of things said in the stream and has some time stamps. https://pastebin.com/6QWTLr8T

Intro

CSPPA - Counter-Strike Professional Players' Association

"Who does this union really fucking serve?"

ESIC - Esports Integrity Commission

"They have been put in an impossible position."

Stream Sniping

"They're all at it in the online era, they're all at it, they're all cheating, they're all using exploits, probably that see through smoke bug got used a bunch of times"

Match Fixing

"How many years have we let our scene be fucking pillaged by these greedy cunts?" "We just let it happen."

North America

Closing Statements

"We've peaked. If we want to sustain and exist, now is the time to figure it out. No esports lasts as long as this, we've already done 8 years. We've already broke the records. We have got to figure out a way to coexist and drive the negative forces out and we need to do it as a collective and we're not doing that."

Islam appears as if it ways made up by Primitive, medieval Arabs who didn't know anything about the world outside from their local area nor had interactions with a divine being.

ISLAM- The belief that an All-Knowing, All-Powerful God decided to reveal his doctrine for mankind, to a 7th century illiterate Arab slave trader(slave and sex slave owner who had regular sex with his 9 year old wife) ,in a cave where no one else was there to verify, through Angel Gabriel over 23 years rather than just beaming it into his brain.

Islam is an extremely Arab-centric religion, it seems as if it was completely made up by an Arabic person/people. The more a religion is tied to the culture of whatever society created it, the less likely it is to be legitimate. An omnipresent All-Knowing God wouldn’t care where on earth the primates he gave sentience to come from. This is what I will be discussing.
THE KAABAThe holy site for pilgrimage is very conveniently located in their backyard (Saudi Arabia.) This would be like a religion of Japanese origin claiming the holy site for pilgrimage is in Tokyo. Muslims have to pray towards the Kaaba which is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Pre-Islamic Arabia was extremely underdeveloped and primitive. Literature wasn’t important and credible texts were rare so sometimes historians have to go with the biased Islamic perspective. According to the Abrahamic religions(Islam included), Abraham lived at around 2100-2200BC which is thousands of years before Islam was born in the 7th century. Islamic sources claim Abraham built the Kaaba for Islamic practises and it was his most important accomplishment. However the Bible never mentions the Kaaba and some Muslims claim Allah is the same God of the bible. Strangely the Kaaba was never mentioned in Judaism and Christianity. Only Islamic sources claim Christians and Jews also respected the Kaaba religiously. It was difficult to unify the many sects of Judaism and Christians on many things but not one sect of either religion mentioned the Kaaba. This suggests this idea was entirely fabricated. Islamic sources claim that the Kaaba in Mecca was a well known, important trade centre. Most Historians agree this is false as there was no mention of the Kaaba by the powerful Roman Empire, and the neighbouring Persian Empire and neighbouring Northern African Rulers until the birth of Islam . All historical evidence indicates the Quran was built by Arab Pagans a few centuries before Muhammad, not Abraham, yet again another false Islamic claim made by early Muslim Arabs or Muhammad. The Zamzam Well is a well located in Mecca, Saudi East of the Kaaba the holiest place in Islam. According to Islam, it is a miraculously generated source of water from God, which sprang spontaneously thousands of years ago when Ibrahim (Abraham's) son Ismael (Ishmael) was left with his mother Hajar (Hagar) in the desert, thirsty and crying. Ibrahim made a request to Allah- 14:37: "{O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) in order, O our Lord, that they may perform Salah (prayer). So fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.}" Muslims believe Zamzam was the first among many fruits provided to Ibrahim by Allah. provided to Ismail and Hajar were in the desert. Very conveniently the Holy Water in Islam is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The water is so holy it is taught to heal diseases and sickness; there is no scientific evidence to support this. This appears to be a knock-off version of a biblical story (one of the many in Islam) where Abraham’s concubine and his son Ishmael were left in the desert of Paran in Palestine. The Hadith Sahih Muslim 31:6046 says that ZamZam water is special, can quench hunger, feed you and make you gain weight;there is of course no scientific evidence to support these claims. Islam makes it appear as if it is a miracle that there is water well in the desert which is expected coming from primitive Arab desert dwellers with little scientific knowledge. Water is underground in most deserts because as rainwater falls, it is absorbed underground and flows through the underground including under a desert.
IMPORTANCE OF ARABIC
Allah stated His holy book must be written, memorised and taught in Arabic(conveniently Muhammad's language) to Prophet Muhammad even though there are thousands of other languages in the world. Vulgar Latin or Middle Chinese were the most spoken language in the world in the 7th century when the Quran was revealed,English and Mandarin are the most spoken languages in the 21st century. Only 5% of the world's population today speak Arabic (Arabic is the 5th most spoken language in the world) so it is illogical, confusing and absurd why God wanted "the most important words for mankind" to be specifically delivered in Arabic. If Allah had revealed his doctrine to all cultures and corners of the world, there would be an independently verifiable method to confirm that every language in the world received the same message from the same God. This would be very powerful evidence in favour of Islam. It is a shame he decided against this:
Quranic Verses on Importance of Arabic:
41:3- "A Scripture whereof the verses are in detail, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge"
7:1: "Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet and in this sequence only Allah knows their meaning here;this is one of Allah's many miracles)."
12:2: "We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so you people may understand/use reason"
14:44: "We have not sent any Messenger except with the language of his people (Arabic) so he can make things clear to them. Allah misguides anyone He wills and guides anyone He wills. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise."
42:7: "So We have revealed an Arabic Quran to you, in order that you may warn the mother of cities(Mecca) and all who live nearby..."
44:58: "We have made the Quran easy in your language (Arabic) so that they might be reminded."
26:198 - "And if We had revealed it (this Qur'an) unto any of the non-Arabs" - 26:199. "And had Muhammad recited the Quran unto them, they would not have believed in it "
41:44: "If We had made it a foreign Quran, they would have said, ‘If only its verses were clear! What? Foreign speech to an Arab?’ Say, ‘It is guidance and healing for those who have faith, but the ears of the disbelievers are heavy, they are blind to it, it is as if they are being called from a distant place." - Could Allah's book not also be unclear to Non-Arabic speakers which was the vast majority of the world in the 7th century and the 21st century?
Why the Almighty God would have a preference for one language over the thousands of others is unclear. Muslims believe Arabic has a special status in Islam. It is compulsory to learn Arabic to be a Muslim and perform activities like the 5 daily prayers, recite the Shahadah and read the Quran. Millions of Muslims around the world memorise the Quran and verses for prayer which are entirely in Arabic whilst not knowing the meaning of what they are saying when they pray everyday and read the Quran. It is estimated up to 10 million Muslims around the world (the majority not Arabic speaking in countries like Nigeria, Indonesia and Pakistan) have memorised the whole Quran. Most of them barely understand a word of what they have memorised It seems likely an All-Wise, All-Powerful God would be able to come up with a better way for people to show devotion to Him than reciting words in a foreign language they don’t know. God’s chosen messenger was an Arabic Person. Islam is filled with Key Arabic terms like Hajj, Shahadah, Taqwa, Taraweeh, Ramadan, Zakat and encourages Arabic customs like keeping a beard, eating dates and women covering their hair.
SPLITTING OF THE MOON
54:1 The Quran states: "The Hour draws near; the moon is split in two". And if they see a miracle they turn away and say 54:2 "Passing Magic," Sahih Bukhari 4:56:81 Narrated Anas states : \"*That the Meccan people requested Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon."*The Quran and Hadith claim that the people of Mecca,Saudi Arabia asked Muhammad to prove that he had divine powers so he miraculously split the moon into two pieces and then, presumably, put it back together again. There is absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that the moon has ever been split into two. Since the moon is visible to half the planet at any given time, we should expect to see numerous accounts from different parts of the world attesting to this event if it actually happened. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Chinese and Indians had avid astronomers who should have seen this event and recorded it in their histories. The absence of historical record from other civilisations, contemporary to Muhammad, is a strong indication that this event never happened. Yet again another Islamic lie. The Quran states in 4:82 "Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found some contradictions." The Quran appears to tell us it certainly didn't come from God as we have clearly found a contradiction in the book between what it says and what actually happens/happened in reality as the moon never split. The Quran also says in 2:256 "Whoever believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold(The Quran) that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower." Clearly the Quran is broken and is not trustworthy as it has lied to us and tried to deceive us about Science. The lie of the splitting of the moon disproves many of Allah's 99 names such as AL-HAQQ(The Absolute-Truth,) AR-RASHEED(The Infallible Teacher,) AL-ALEEM (The All-Knowing,) AR-RAQEEB(The Watchful One,) AL-HAKEEM(The All-Wise,) ASH-SHAHEED(The All Observing Witnessing, AL-MAJEED(The Glorious-Most Honourable,) AL-HAMEED(The Praiseworthy,)DHUL-JALAALI WAL-IKRAAM(Possessor of Glory and Honour, Lord of Majesty and Generosity.)

DESCRIPTIONS OF HEAVEN/PARADISE
The invention of an afterlife by religions such as Islam is to serve our primitive desires to stay alive and is a result of the fear of One's mortality. The invention of an afterlife is also means to satisfy our primal desires to feel pleasure and Islam provides this as it sates in 41:31- "You will have therein(Paradise) whatever yourselves desire, whatever you want." The sole purpose of a Muslim's life is to enter Paradise and according to 29:64- " This life is nothing but diversion and play (to distract you from the ultimate goal of paradise)" The way heaven is described in a religion is usually reflective of the culture the religion originated from; this is expected as religions are fabricated by humans not sourced from divine beings.
The Islamic Paradise (Jannah) is described in the Quran and in Hadith as a place with lots of magnificent gardens, nice greenery and weirdly obsesses on how there are many rivers and sources of water in Paradise. Here are some verses on the Islamic Paradise:
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.3:193 - “But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow....”16:31 - “The gardens of perpetuity, they shall enter them, rivers flowing beneath them; they shall have in them what they please...”47:15 - "The description of Paradise which the righteous have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed..."5:119- "...There are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation."9:72- "Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss."61:12 - “These it is (Paradise) for whom are gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow,”54:54 - "Verily, The Righteous, will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers in Paradise."18: 33. "Each of those two gardens brought forth its produce, and failed not in the least therein, and We caused a river to gush forth in the midst of them."
The fascination with gardens and water appears to be a reasonable depiction of heaven coming from primitive desert dwellers who didn’t have much access to greenery and vast areas of water. Most people don't think of water when they think of a heaven except of course primitive Arabs who lived in the sweltering heat of the desert.
Islam is famous for having an extensive list of things which are forbidden under the religion (Haram) . There are customs like drinking alcohol, gambling, wearing gold and women being able to dress freely, and beautifying one's appearance which was and is part of most cultures including Pre-Islamic Arabia that were subsequently banned under Islam. I believe the reason religions like Islam ban trivial, inconsequential thing like beautifying one’s appearance is because if you can force people to give up something so intrinsic to their society and to being human, it is much easier exercise control. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The world is a prison-house for a believer and Paradise for a non-believer. Sahih Muslim 2956. The purpose of tedious rules is to make its adherents cement themselves more concretely to the religion. Muslims are being controlled massively by the the commands of a fictional being(Allah) and unfortunately do not seem to understand that. There is no other reason. The rules do not benefit you but the business. Every time you follow these rules with no evidence they came from a divine being, you are paying another subscription fee until you decide you are being used and drained to the religions benefit, not yours. Muslims are obligated to follow the Quran and it's rules as it is supposedly the word of God- 4:59- "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad ), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority and if there is deviation amongst yourselves, refer back to Allah, His Messenger (and Quran ), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination."
FASCINATION WITH WINE IN PARADISE
The fascination with wine in the Islamic heaven indicates that the Arabic authoauthors were into alcohol all along. Allah is clearly a confused man who doesn't even understand and abide by his own words as he says in 5:90 that alcohol consumption is the work of Satan but then promises alcohol in heaven for righteous Muslims. 5:90- "O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful." It seems weird to condone something in Heaven that you said is bad to do on Earth. Here are Quranic verses on Alcohol in Paradise:76:5 - "Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur."76:17 - “And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger. “47:15 - “The description of Paradise is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure)....”
FASCINATION WITH WOMEN AND SEX IN PARADISE
The Quran forbids men and women especially women from beautifying themselves, tells men to lower their gaze, tells men and women to be modest in dress and behaviour, and discourages the provocative sexual display of their bodies and and discourages hyper-sexuality however extensively discusses sex and the beauty of the women in heaven. Yet again, it seems weird to condone something in Heaven that you said is bad to do on Earth.
24:31 - “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.”
Here are Quranic Verses regarding the beauty of the women in Paradise:
2:25- “...they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.” This means God will provide pure women for men to have sex with in Paradise.55: 70-“Therein (In Paradise) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful.”37:48- -“And with them (believing men) will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes.” 37:49. “(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”2:25- "Virgins await those who enter paradise."
78:31-34 - “Verily for the Righteous(men) there will be the fulfilment of (the heart´s) desires; Gardens and vineyards, And a cup(of wine) overflowing; And women of equal age with big and firm breasts”
Quran 55:54-56 - “They(righteous men) will recline on Carpets...In them will be houris(virgins) restraining their glances, and no man or Jinn has ever opened their hymen with sexual intercourse, which of your Lord’s blessings would you deny?
The obsession and fascination with women's beauty and sex in the Islamic Paradise and lack of regard for female sexuality with no Quranic verses appealing to a Woman’s desire for sexual gratification clearly illustrates this was made up by sexually aroused Arabian Men who were implementing their sexual fantasies into their ideal paradise. It is oddly suspicious that there are no Islamic verses describing the handsome men in Paradise for women. The misogynistic objectification of women by portraying them as commodities and treating them like prizes to be won if One is faithful to Allah is typical of the ideals of the time, where women in most civilisations were treated as second class class citizens and had limited rights compared to men.
Bonus Quranic verses on women in Islam:
4:34- "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom you fear rebellion from, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great." This verse means men are in charge of women, because Allah made men to be better than women. Women must obey men, and if they refuse they must be punished. Refuse to have sex with them and beat them into submission.
2:223- "Men,your women are soil for you (to cultivate/farm) so go to your soil as you please, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls, and fear Allah, and know that ye will (one day) meet Him. Give glad tidings to believers, (O Muhammad)." In the mind of Allah, women are like a dirty field for men to put their penises through. Plough them whenever you like (as long as they're not menstruating, of course.)
4:24- "Also forbidden for men to marry are women already married, except those whom your right hands possess(captive women aka sex slaves)." This verse means Allah permits men having sex slaves.
OBSESSION WITH DATES
Islam has stressed the holiness of the date and the date palm more than any other religion. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad said that Ajwah dates—grown in the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia—are from paradise. The date palm, mentioned more than any other fruit-bearing plant in the Quran 22 times is a symbol often associated with Muslims. Muhammad argued that seven dates in the morning protected one from poison and witchcraft. The Quran states that Mary was advised to eat dates while in labour with Jesus, to ease childbirth and strengthen the body. The Prophet was once reported to have said, “People in a house without dates are in a state of hunger.”
Some of the many Islamic verses on date-palms:The Hadith - Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3464 states: “ The prophet says: whoever says: Glory is to Allah the Magnificent, and with His Praise, a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.”36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.”55:11 - ”Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates)."(This verse means thankfully Allah has provided humans with date-palms on Earth)17:91- "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly."55:68- "In them (both) will be fruits, and date-palms and pomegranates."80:29- "And olives and date palms"54:20- "Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms."(Allah bragging about the punishment and torment he inflicted on innocent disbelievers using a strong wind)
It seems very convenient and oddly suspicious that God has created a special status for date-palms in his religion and talks about dates an awful lot, given the fact dates are a staple food in Saudi Arabia (It’s eaten regularly and mass produced in the Arabic World). It is very easy for a culture that loves and places great value on dates to then say that God also gives dates a special status. Why the creator of the universe would have a liking to the common fruit in the Middle East over all the thousands of fruits that exist is unclear. It would be suspicious if the God of a religion of Japanese origin claimed Sushi is a holy, special food and described how much sushi there would be in heaven e.g "For those that believe, there will be plates of sushi for them in Paradise."
PORK
The Quran offers no explanation as to why pork is impure is it states in 6:145 when God says, in reference to the flesh of swine (pig), “for that surely it is impure.” Arabs generally didn’t eat pork and thought it was an unclean animal before Islam came so it was very convenient that Allah said Muslims shouldn’t eat pork as it was unclean and impure. This highlights how the Arabs were scientifically illiterate and didn't know proper cooking kills pathogens. Why would the creator of the universe view some foods the mere humans he created eat as disgusting but others perfectly fine for them to eat. This seems like a human trait that is usually dependent on One's culture. For example, a person from the USA may view eating snails and horse meat as disgusting whilst a person from France may view this as perfectly normal.

SPREAD OF ISLAMIslam was spread by Arab Conquest & War and Arab traders. The most Islamic regions of the world are in the Middle East/Arabic countries. Doesn't Allah know his "beautiful words of wisdom" for mankind would be spread through violent ways and evil dictators who forced it upon lands they conquered. Allah is All-Knowing, Benevolent and All-Powerful therefore he could have stopped these from happening or created a better way for his doctrine to spread through Mankind. Quran 2:256 states: "There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path." and 15:9 states: "Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption.)" This verse clearly means the All-Powerful Allah and his Angels dramatically failed on their promise to protect the Quran from corruption and misuse as we know how much evil that has been committed in the name of the Quran throughout history especially given the infamous rise of Radical Islamic Terrorism over the last few decades. 99% of all terrorist attacks that occurred throughout the world from 2010-2020 were Islam related. This disproves many of Allah's 99 names such as AL-MUHAYMIN(The Preserver of Safety,) AR-RASHEED(The Guide, Infallible Teacher,) AL-HAQQ(The Absolute Truth,) AL-AZIZ(All Powerful,) AL-MUHAYMIN AL-‘ALEEM(The All-Knowing.) Doesn't Allah realise that by revealing his doctrine exclusively to Arabs, he engineered the cultural isolation of the rest of the world from his doctrine, he engineered the circumstances of Unbelievers' disbelief that live in the far corners of the world like South America,New Zealand and the Pacific/Remote Islands of the world therefore he created a punishment (Hell) for a situation he knowingly created. It is very suspicious that Allah is Arabic-speaking, Arab-centric, yet will punish non Arabs millenniums later for not believing the message they received through a game of telephone.

RENAMING OF JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN FIGURES
The Quran also arrogantly claims that key figures: Jesus(Isa), Abraham(Ibrahim), Noah(Nuh), David(Dawud), Ishmael(Ismail), Isaac(Ishaq), Joseph(Yusuf), Ezekiel(Dhulkifl), Moses(Musa), Solomon(Sulayman) ,Jacob(Yaqub) in the centuries old religions of Judaism and Christianity were actually Muslim and Islamic Prophets and gave them Arabic names instead of their Aramaic and Hebrew names. ARABIC NAMES ARE BRACKETED.

FASTING“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)Fasting in Ramadan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and must be performed if One is fit, healthy, not pregnant, not ill and not menstruating. Islam requires fasting from dawn till dusk in the holy month of Ramadan which is approximately 12 hours in Saudi Arabia. If the authoauthors were in Northern Europe where dawn till dusk can last up to 22-23 hours in the summer months, leaving a 1-2 hour window to eat a day for a whole month, they probably wouldn’t have made this difficult, extremely unhealthy and dangerous task a requirement. The author is also clearly unaware that there are parts of Northern Europe near the North Pole where the sun never sets in the summer months. This phenomenon is colloquially known as the Midnight Sun. For example Svalbard, Norway is known for having a Midnight Sun. In Svalbard, Norway there is no sunset from April to August and no sunlight from November to January. Islam was born 1400 years ago so how would people living in these parts of the world be able before the invention of mechanical clocks 600 years ago is unclear. The Quran makes no provisions for Muslims living in these areas, the Quran states in 6:38- " We did not leave ANYTHING out of this book," this is weird given the fact the Quran is meant to be the perfect, final word from the All-Knowing All-Powerful God who knows about the existence of the midnight sun.

THE ONLY ANIMALS,PLANTS, CITIES AND PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THE QURAN ARE THE ONES FOUND IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
The only animals and plants mentioned in the Quran are the ones found in the Middle East. Never ones specifically in Australia, Europe, Antarctica North America or South America.
The only cities, nations and continents mentioned in the Quran are the ones found in the Middle East area. Never ones specifically in Australia, Europe, Antarctica North America or South America.
The people mentioned in the Quran all lived in the Middle East area. The Quran doesn’t mention people living in Australia, Europe, Antarctica, North America or South America.
The Quran never mentions smoking even though it was popular and existed in the Americas long before the 7th century when the Quran was written.
All the miracles in the Quran occurred in Saudi Arabia and nowhere else in the world. No miracles from Allah. No miracles in the Quran in Australia, Europe, Antarctica, North America or South America.
ISLAM'S OBSESSION WITH ARABIC AND ARABIAN CULTUREReligions are fabricated by humans, consequently, they are tied and intrinsic to the particular culture it originated from and Islam is no exception. Religious and Non-Religious people agree that 99.99%+ of religions are fabricated by humans as there are thousands of religions that make incompatible claims, each claiming to be sourced from a divine being. Islam is obsessed with Arabic and Arabic culture, every page you turn to you see a reference to Arabic culture, this isn't the case for Christianity. The Majority of people don't think of Israel, Hebrew and Israeli culture when they think of Christianity. Like I said, the more a religion is tied to the culture of whatever society created it, the less likely it is to be legitimate. An omnipresent All-Knowing God wouldn’t care where on earth the primates he gave sentience to come from. A religion that professes its universality and its suitability for all mankind, 81:27 "Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)," seems rather centred around a specific group of people (Arabs).
All evidence points to the fact Islam and the Quran was a completely made up by Arabic People and/or Muhammad who had no contact with a Deity and other cultures beside Arabic culture adding to the fact it is filled with hundred of contradictions, inconsistencies and scientific inaccuracies. The fictional character ,Allah, was clearly obsessed with Arabs and Arabic culture and couldn't go a few pages without a reference to Arabic culture; this guy is meant to be the creator of the universe. Islam appears to be a local Arab folklore to unite nomads under the banner of one God through the violent political campaign of Muhammad. Islam claims to be global but all knowing Allah forget to send prophets outside of Arab world. The evidence of contradictions, both big and small serves as clear evidence of human tampering. If the Quran came from Muhammad it was nothing more than fabrication from a power hungry megalomaniac, with his claims of divine inspiration being nothing more than an attempt to conquer Arabia and Islam being nothing more than just another false desert cult to emerge from a sea of desert cults.

THE KAABA
The holy site for pilgrimage is very conveniently located in their backyard (Saudi Arabia.) This would be like a religion of Japanese origin claiming the holy site for pilgrimage is in Tokyo.

The Islamic Paradise (Jannah) is described in the Quran and in Hadiths as a place with lots of magnificent gardens, nice greenery and weirdly obsesses on how there are many rivers and sources of water in Paradise. Here are some verses on the Islamic Paradise:
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.
3:193 - “But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow....”
16:31 - “The gardens of perpetuity, they shall enter them, rivers flowing beneath them; they shall have in them what they please...”
47:15 - "The description of Paradise which the righteous have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed..."
5:119- "...There are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation."
9:72- "Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss."
61:12 - “These it is (Paradise) for whom are gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow,”
54:54 - "Verily, The Righteous, will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers in Paradise."
Here are Quranic verses on Alcohol in Paradise:
76:5 - "Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur."
76:17 - “And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger. “
47:15 - “The description of Paradise is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure)....”
2:25- “...they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.” This means God will provide pure women for men to have sex with in Paradise.
55: 70-“Therein (In Paradise) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful.”
37:48- -“And with them (believing men) will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes.” 37:49. “(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”
2:25- "Virgins await those who enter paradise."
Some of the many Islamic verses on date-palms:
The Hadith - Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3464 states: “ The prophet says: whoever says: Glory is to Allah the Magnificent, and with His Praise, a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.”
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.”
55:11 - ”Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates)."(This verse means thankfully Allah has provided humans with date-palms on Earth)
17:91- "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly."
55:68- "In them (both) will be fruits, and date-palms and pomegranates."
80:29- "And olives and date palms"
54:20- "Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms."(Allah bragging about the punishment and torment he inflicted on innocent disbelievers using a strong wind)

SPREAD OF ISLAM
Islam was spread by Arab Conquest & War and Arab traders.
The Quran also arrogantly claims that key figures: Jesus(Isa), Abraham(Ibrahim), Noah(Nuh), David(Dawud), Ishmael(Ismail), Isaac(Ishaq), Joseph(Yusuf), Ezekiel(Dhulkifl), Moses(Musa), Solomon(Sulayman) ,Jacob(Yaqub) in the centuries old religions of Judaism and Christianity were actually Muslim and Islamic Prophets and gave them Arabic names. ARABIC NAMES ARE BRACKETED.

FASTING
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)
Fasting in Ramadan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and must be performed if One is fit, healthy, not pregnant, not ill and not menstruating.

ISLAM'S OBSESSION WITH ARABIC AND ARABIAN CULTURE
Religions are fabricated by humans, consequently, they are tied and intrinsic to the particular culture it originated from and Islam is no exception.

Looking For A Little Advice on Next Steps (Finance and Housing Related)

Hi all,
I fairly recently moved to Canada from Australia and whereas I've been pretty clear on my finances so far, I'm starting to get a bit lost with next steps.
Important Details: RRSP: $40k (fully maxed - no more contribution room) TFSA: $40k (fully maxed - no more contribution room) Current Account: $65k (sitting doing nothing) Available LOC: $25k unused No debts
Annual Income: ~$150-160k
Job: I work in a very specialised geotechnical engineering role. It's a mix of office and site based, I work out of Burnaby BC and my site territory covers Horseshoe Bay down to Tsawwassen and out to Mission/Abbotsford/Chilliwack. I really like this job, which I took in late 2019 just before COVID hit. The pay is also a big increase over my previous job, which brings me to the housing situation.
I currently live in North Burnaby, BC in a older, small rented house. I signed a fixed 1-year lease in April 2020 where the landlord told me outright that he was waiting for permits to demolish and build a new house. He got those in July and I'm due to move out in just under 3 months. I was hoping to buy a house but the stress test is killing my affordability. Because I took a job with significantly higher pay recently, I'm still being judged against my old pay (my pre-approval amount is $750k, my budgeting means I can afford $900k with the current mortgage rates while setting aside $20k a year for house maintenance). Unfortunately, the 15-20% house price rise we've seen in the last 2 or 3 months might have put buying out of reach for me, but some questions I'm struggling to find the answer to:
- In a situation like mine, can you take a Line of Credit, or even a couple of them to max out the downpayment? I know it contributes to debt calculation, but my GDS and TDS are the same ratio because I have no debt right now. The way I see it, it's TDS room I can use to get above the 20% downpayment and further increase my affordability, and I know I can afford to pay it back within 2-4 years because I know my financial situation. It might get me to a level where I can afford a house.
- What other steps can you do to increase affordability in situations like this? My mortgage broker can't think of any, "it's the stress test that's stopping you" has been his continual response.
- Putting the housing question to the side and in the situation where I find another rental instead, what do you do when you max out your RRSP and TFSA, but can't afford to buy property? I know people buy-to-rent sometimes, but it feels very risky to me. I'm pretty risk averse financially, you won't get me on the GME gambling train for sure...
Thanks for any help in advance, I lurk on this community a lot and it's really helped me in the last couple years!

Standing to Port | Year in Review and Monthly FIRE Portfolio Update | December 2020

In order to arrive at what you do not know
You must go by a way which is the way of ignorance.
-T. S. Eliot, Four Quartets – East Coker
Year in Review
The year past has been extraordinary in so many ways, entirely separate from the progress to the goal of financial independence.
Part of the structure of the year has been seeing elements of this new reality bleed into markets and economic developments, affecting the portfolio in profound ways.
At the the broadest level, the year saw the passing of my portfolio objective, in a rapid unexpected way in December. In fact, as can be seen below, this year saw the crossing of the last two outstanding portfolio measures.
[Chart]
Progress against FI measures through 2020
Measure Portfolio All Assets
Portfolio objective – $2,180,000 (or $87,000 pa) 82%→104% 112%→136%
Credit card purchases – $71,000 pa 100%→127% 136%→166%
Total expenses – $89,000 pa 80%→102% 109%→133%
On an ‘All Assets’ basis – taking into account superannuation assets – the year saw further progress, to be well above the minimum levels required to sustain the portfolio income objective.
Course of the voyage
The progress of the year was steeped in volatility. This year saw the largest ever fall in the value of the portfolio, and also two of the largest ever monthly gains.
This volatility is clearly evidenced in the variations in the total end of month portfolio values in the chart below.
[Chart]
Overall the portfolio increased by over $500,000 through the full year. This is the largest rise in the value of the portfolio over a single year on record.
Quite simply, it has moved the portfolio to a different magnitude and scale of operation. The chart below of the overall value of the portfolio on a calendar year basis illustrates this alteration starkly.
[Chart]
It cannot be escaped that the largest single contributor to the increase over this year was a surge in the price of Bitcoin, leading to over $300,000 of the gains.
Equity markets, however, also pushed forward in the second half of the year, and the equity portfolio finished around $175,000 higher than the beginning of the year. The gold component of the portfolio also ended the year higher.
As the set out in the In Way of Harbour post two weeks ago, combined this progress resulted in the passing of the portfolio objective in mid-December.
Direction of portfolio contributions
This year portfolio contributions were directed to only two significant investments – the Vanguard exchange traded funds for Australian shares (VAS) and global shares (VGS).
This contrasts with the generally splintered nature of investments over the previous course of the journey, in which it was not unusual for more than four or five different vehicles to receive contributions. This can be seen by the chart below.
[Chart]
The split in contributions for this year reflected a dynamic asset allocation approach. Each fortnight, an updated excel spreadsheet helps show which component of the portfolio is lagging furthest below its target allocation. New investments are directed to this asset class.
A true and steady course pursued
This year has been an important one for the financial independence journey. In fact, arguably the most important.
Yet the journey this year has featured fewer adjustments and changes than any previously. Rather it has been a year of fairly steady mechanical actions, taken in pursuit of the overall portfolio plan.
As the journey has proceeded towards its destination, it has been a strength to have a simple approach of just investing twice per month in the asset class furthest from its target, and to pursue a pre-set allocation between Australian and international equities. As my examination of the equity portfolio found, this ensures investments are spread across nearly 6,000 different equity securities.
So to some extent, there has been an achievement of simply staying the course – and calmly implementing the plan, even as conditions through the year imposed the largest dollar losses the portfolio has ever seen.
Yet the recent recovery should not necessarily be seen as a ‘payoff’ or reward for this steady application. Markets might just as well have continued to fall. To look for patterns of justice or morality in market events is to make a fundamental category error, and any that do so should perhaps aim to read a well-chosen book instead.
Progress of the record
The year has also been a successful one for this record itself, the blog. Over the course of the year there has been 139,000 page views, with monthly pageviews rising from below 10,000 at the start of the year to be closer to 15,000 in recent months.
This is a modest size in Australian blogging, and indeed Australian FI blogging terms. Yet using sessions and session times can help put this into a more tangible perspective.
The time spent by visitors on the site is equivalent to one person sitting and continuously reading the blog for around eight months of standard working hours. Viewed in this way, such a dedicated reader obviously deserves considerable respect, and the best experience that can be provided.
Towards the horizon – future plans and goals
Over past weeks, as is my habit each year during this holiday break, I have been reviewing my investment policy and looking at possible new goals.
This has obviously been an especially salient exercise since the middle of this month. It has involved thinking carefully through and testing my plans, assumptions and potential asset allocation approaches.
A final jigsaw puzzle piece in this respect are distributions from funds and exchange traded funds. So, as previously, before finalising any new plans or approaches in a new post, I want to fit this missing piece into the picture. Unfortunately this entails waiting until all December distributions are finalised or announced. This will also lead into a regular portfolio income update.
I am looking forward to sharing these updated plans – including possibly new portfolio objectives – in the next week or so.
Monthly FIRE Portfolio Update - December 2020

Comments
This month has seen the second largest increase the portfolio in this four year record, immediately following the record growth in November.
The overall portfolio has increased by over $180,000, resulting in the meeting of the portfolio objective around half way through December, and notionally six months ahead of schedule. The portfolio grew 8.6 per cent over the month.
[Chart]
This growth has almost exclusively arisen from the substantial rise in the price of Bitcoin, with the holding increasing in value by around 50 per cent this month alone. Since March of this year, the value of these holdings have more than tripled. Compared to this, equities have generally been steady and unexceptional.
The advance in the value of Bitcoin has continued against the backdrop of continued monetary base expansion, trial adoption of it as a corporate treasury reserve by US business intelligence firm Microstrategy, and the continuing disappearance of yields on fixed interest securities. Some US financial commentators are even starting to discuss their experiments in ownership, while others remain highly skeptical.
The fixed interest components of the portfolio have remained stable, while the value of gold holdings has risen slightly.
[Chart]
This month also saw some other financial developments.
Neo-bank Xinja, in which I had around $50,000 of cash invested promptly notified account holders that it was shutting down. Media reports discussed the fall of the venture, but it was the only experience I have ever had of a bank actively shutting down, and inviting depositors to take their money elsewhere.
As a process, however, it was quite smooth, with Xinja obviously finding the business model of paying out relatively high introductory rates in a period of close to zero nominal rates increasingly difficult over time.
Additionally, this month I paused regular contributions to the Spaceship voyager app on the basis of focusing investments towards the major ETFs, and creating the flexibility in the future to sell or re-allocate these assets later, without any unnecessary realisations of capital gains.
Sailing out of trim revisited
Last month I entertained the twin questions: would crossing the portfolio objective ‘finishing line’ with an asset allocation quite different to the target allocation be a matter of little or great concern? And is it actually realistic to seek to avoid it?
The progress of the last month has been breathtaking, and forced such questions out of the realm of the hypothetical, to be active issues of consideration in my upcoming investment policy review.
The chart below sets out the annual portfolio asset allocation over the past 13 years.
[Chart]
What can be seen is that the rise of Bitcoin as part of the portfolio has as a arithmetic consequence lowered the asset allocation of equities. The same phenomenon occurred in January 2018, at a previous high. In pure equity allocation terms, therefore the portfolio enters this year less exposed to equity markets than at any time over the past three years.
This might in some ways be viewed as a relatively ‘defensive’ positioning, at least in the sense that around 35 per cent of assets are exposed to non-equity market factors. Yet it is worth looking below the surface, and testing this.
In fact, for much of this year the correlation between Bitcoin and Australian share holdings has been relatively high – around 0.6 for the second half of the year. In other words, Bitcoin has tended to rise and fall with Australian shares rather than moving in the opposite direction. By contrast, gold has acted more in line with its usual role, with a negative correlation to shares.
Recent movements have left the absolute level of portfolio variance at all time highs. Here – set out in the chart below – the measure is the summed absolute value of all variances between target and actual allocation percentages.
[Chart]
From a range of 5 to 15 per cent since early 2019 it has moved above 25 per cent.
To put this in context, portfolio variance in percentage terms now sits at levels last experienced in 2013-2016, a period in which fixed interest returns and some inattention had led to much higher bond allocations than ultimately sought. In absolute dollar terms, variances have broken decisively higher, exceeding $600,000 this month, from levels of around $100,000 to $200,000 over the past two years.
This month seeking to lean against these variances led to continued purchases of Vanguard exchange traded funds, with units bought using Selfwealth* in the international shares ETF (VGS).
Trends in average credit card expenses
Trends in credit card expenditures remain little changed, noting that figures next month will reflect higher expenditure over the Christmas break period.
[Chart]
Consistent with recent months, however, average monthly expenditure on credit cards has continued to fall. As can be seen, the moving average level of distributions since the beginning of this record is also currently declining, reflecting some larger one-off distribution payments in the data sample being excluded over time.
[Chart]
When the more variable monthly estimates are examined below, total expenditure continues to track at levels just above estimated distributions, while credit card expenses remain comfortably met.
Both of the charts above are likely to shift slightly as assumptions around distributions over the July to December period are replaced by actual distributions. To the extent that these have fallen below projections, progress will look a little worse, though the impact on the first chart is likely to be marginal.
Progress Measure Portfolio All Assets
Portfolio objective – $2,180,000 (or $87,000 pa) 103.9% 135.8%
Credit card purchases – $71,000 pa 126.8% 165.8%
Total expenses – $89,000 pa 101.6% 132.8%
Summary
The year opened with some idle musings on the ‘what if’ scenarios of mild or serious equity market falls. In March, these scenarios were effectively tested and played out on the portfolio. Similarly the last few months have seen some early thinking on the then scenario of unexpected Bitcoin gains pushing the portfolio over the finish line.
That record does not so much increase my confidence in predictions as suggest caution about any next speculation on what the next month or year might hold.
Perhaps on a psychological level markets seem especially delicately poised at rich valuations, just because the portfolio has just recently passed its target goal. Certainly there is some evidence that the equity risk premium – the expected equity return over risk-free bonds – remains stubbornly high, and with a lower dispersion than normal around various (imperfect) estimation approaches.
Meanwhile, as portfolio distributions for the second half of the year are finalised, there is some interesting indications from both forecast Vanguard international share ETF distributions and other evidence that dividends from the US – for the moment – have been less affected than dividends from elsewhere by the economic impacts of COVID-19 and lockdowns.
This month I have been reading a biography of famed stock speculator, financier and US presidential counsellor Bernard Baruch. Along the same lines, I have also spent much time listening to Joseph Noel Walker’s brilliant podcast interviews with economists Vernon Smith and Ed Glaeser on bubbles and gambling respectively.
Such readings and podcasts are perhaps an attempt to prepare for windy weather ahead. To reinforce the stubborn efforts made through this year to reach the financial independence goal now passed. As the new year begins, my attention turns to new plans and objectives, with greater humility around the capacity of any plan to define the progress of this stage of the voyage.

Silver Miners Guide

Silver Miners Guide
A while ago I promised some of you to write up on silver miners. A lot of things happened since then, including me getting stuck in the hospital for 2 months, but a promise is a promise. Besides, I figured WSB only pays attention to the stocks, which already moved up significantly in the past few days, before falling off the cliff once we, retards, load up on calls. And as you’ve probably seen, silver has moved up ~8% in a few days (miners – 15% and more). So here we go.
This post is designed to give a start to those of you, who know nothing about this field and just want to dip their toes. In no way, shape or form I poses professional knowledge or formal education on mining, this is purely what I’ve learned speculating stocks.
Here you can find my basic write-ups on:
- precious metals ETFs
- gold miners
- jewelry public companies

1. Why invest in silver miners?
I’ll give you 5 reasons:
  1. Silver is a stronger (but riskier) hedge against monetary inflation: if you are right about inflation gold will move, but silver will move more;
  2. Silver has much more industrial usage than gold;
  3. Jewelers have bigger demand for silver than gold;
  4. Silver to gold price ratio is historically low right now and all commodities are undepriced compared to equity futures like S&P.
  5. Silver is future-proof, unlike gold: it is heavily used in solar panels and electronics. Also, 2019 industrial and jewelry demand of silver is very suppressed: only jewelry silver demand is estimated to lose 23% in 2020.
In fact, let’s talk about demand:
As of 2018, total demand was 32 146 tons of physical silver:
https://preview.redd.it/ce1b3cfs2t561.png?width=715&format=png&auto=webp&s=623d38466713f2d66beaa7ed251225dc00556930
Industrial use: 17997 tons (~ 56%);
Jewelry: 6611 tons (~ 21%);
Coins and bars: 5637 tons (~ 18%);
Silverware: 1900 tons (~ 6%).
Among industrial demand electronics contributes 7730 tons, while solar was already 2503 tons in 2018. This will only increase. Yep, you’ve probably thought that majority of silver is used on silver spoons that your grandma used to pick up in Target, while cool futuristic kids use lithium in Tesla’s. Turns out, solar panels already use more silver than all of the silverware combined.
There’s also another reason to play silver miners right now: it was harder hit by Covid lockdowns. Why so? Because majority of silver production is done in Latin America (in fact, out of 6 biggest producing countries – 4 are in Latin America) and Latin countries on average had much tougher lockdowns, compared to leading gold producers like Australia, China, Russia, etc.
2. How silver is mined?
Unlike some other metals, silver is never found on itself. It is always mined in ores that contain either of three large groups of metals: gold, copper, zinc and lead. Ore is then processed and refined to get the end product. Why is this important? Because when you build a model trying to forecast earnings of the company you can not focus on silver prices alone, you have to take every byproduct into consideration.
3. How to determine which mine is a good buy?
3.1. Let’s start by understanding metrics. Your regular EBITDA, EPS or even FCF won’t tell you much about where the miner is going, because
a) they do not determine the price of their product;b) they have no direct control over the longevity of the product source.
That’s why gold miners came out with their unique metrics by which they evaluate each individual mine and then calculate producer’s average. Those metrics are Cash Cost and All-in Sustaining Costs. Those are non-GAAP metrics and I’m not even sure if they are audited.
Cash costs include mine site operating costs such as mining, processing, administration, production taxes and royalties which are not based on sales or taxable income calculations, but are exclusive of amortization, reclamation, capital, development and exploration costs. AISC is, basically, a wider metric introduced later by World Gold Council. It includes every cost of running a mine excluding:• Income tax.• Working capital (except for adjustments to inventory on a sales basis).• All financing charges (including capitalized interest).• Costs related to business combinations, asset acquisitions and asset disposals.• Items needed to normalize earnings, for example impairments on non-current assets and one-time material severance charges.
If you want to learn more about quirks and features of those metrics I urge you to read this paper: https://digitalcommons.mtech.edu/mine_eng9/
So take metal futures prices average during quarter, subtract AISC and here goes your mine profit before taxes and royalty payments.
3.2. Silver miners now also use mostly AISC. And calculating silver production they use Ag Eq metrics, which is average ratio of silver to all other byproducts over the quarter. And when they present profits, they also use Ag Eq sold, which again include silver and all byproducts.
I would argue, that Ag Eq metrics are also misleading for silver miners. Because when a gold miners produce gold all other byproducts are not that numerous and, what’s more important, far, far cheaper, thus their impact is negligible. Silver is a different story. For example, let's take Caylloma mine, 2019. They produced 45.6kk lb of Zinc, 28.7kk lb of Lead and 0.9 kk oz of silver. In today prices this would be 58kk USD / 27kk USD and 23.4kk USD. As you can see, in fact silver's output for this mine is the smallest. I've even came across arguments, that silver should never be considered a main product, only a byproduct.
The problem for you is that you might be watching only silver prices, which, say increase 25% and wonder, why your miner isn’t doing so great, while ignoring that zinc and lead prices dropped and it had a bigger impact on your miner, than rising silver.
What you could use instead is a total cost of tonnes milled. Most miners publish this metric. And then model every metal received separately. In fact, most analysts try to model grades of mines, which is basically amount of useful stuff among all shit excavated. But we’re getting really too deep now.
3.3. Another extremely important thing to remember is a life of a mine. See, it can be very different: some mines can live 20 years, some are ending their life cycle. You open prospects of a miner and you search for the guidance on the next year and you see how much metals they plan to produce. Then you check expected life of their assets. If an asset is nearing it’s end, grades usually get lower, which means less profits. Also, investors put a pressure on a miner to replace dying asset, and if nothing is found in time – stock price tends to trade lower than what it’s cash flows might suggest.
There are also surprise scenarios like extending the life expectancy of a mine, or finding new deposits. But that’s a gamble.
Once a mine is done, it becomes a liability, instead of an asset, because it is put on care and maintenance, which is expensive and lasts years and years. That’s why I prefer junior miners with only few assets: they usually do not baghold liabilities from long-gone projects. And also it’s easier to model them.
3.4. Finally, pay attention to jurisdictions: how stable the local governments are, how corrupt or how focused on ESG standards. Unfortunately, mining is a risky business with bad rep (sometime deserved, sometimes not). That’s why a populist government can always blame miners on some environmental or social damage and close them down or nationalize the mine.
Bonus. Let’s look into my biggest silver position as of today: Fortuna Silver Mine (FSM).
Reasoning:
  1. Relatively stable jurisdictions of Mexico, Peru and Argentina;
  2. Heavy Covid lockdowns, so I could pick it up rather cheap;
  3. Peru and Mexico mines have at least 5 years of life;
  4. They have gold mine under construction in Argentina. It is expected to have 15 years of life and to produce 150k oz of gold per year at AISC 800 USD/oz. This is not yet properly priced in, because FSM is trading following mainly silver and silver miners ETFs. This is also in part because the project has been delayed several times. But they’ve already mined first 15k oz this year, so I have little doubt that they will achieve meaningful production next year.
  5. Relatively low cost of production;
  6. CEO is third generation miner and Peru national;
  7. They have increased their debt to finance Argentina project, but the net debt is not that big compared to Free Cash Flow;
  8. Sprott fund is heavily into this stock and so is Adrian Day (he has his own fund and also manages Peter Schiff’s funds while Peter sticks to ranting about the Fed on his radio).
I have a price target of 8.66 for FSM, with a rather conservative metal prices estimate.
Let’s sum it all up.
Why invest in a silver miner?
Because silver moves more than gold, because it has much more industrial and practical use and it has future upside.
How do you find good silver miners?
You pick stable jurisdictions, you look into byproducts and estimate if those also fit your outlook and price expectancy and, finally, you check the life expectancy of the mines. Of course, do not forget to look into the books and check the debt ratios.
To be fair, I’ll also list considerations why NOT to invest in a silver miner:
  1. company has almost no control over the price of the product;
  2. high political and social risks;
  3. uncertainty of the company’s future once it’s mines reach their end: there’ no guarantee that the management will be able to find an asset of an equal quality, thus rarely miners are ‘buy and hold forever’;
  4. no goodwill, brand value or any kind of a moat;
  5. mining industry has a bad rep and is often operating in remote areas, thus it’s very limited in it’s access to good labour;
  6. basically, no meaningful dividend.
Hope this helps someone to make an educated decision or to carry a deeper research. If any of you have questions or would like to discuss commodities – I’ll be glad. Also, I might do a write up on commodities that will be used in future green tech (EVs, solar, etc), since there’s so much more than just lithium. But we’ll see, ain’t promising anything this time ;)

24 years old and lost $10k over the span of a day from trading crypto

Hi all,
Made a throwaway account for obvious reasons though I think I just need somewhere to type/vent out.
To be honest I think this was a long time coming. I initially started gambling on betting sites when Germany won the 2014 World Cup. I put in $100 dollars and essentially netted a $61 profit and just loved the thrill/adrenaline rush of betting money on something you can actively watch and then the euphoria which came from betting. There was really nothing like it.
Fast forward a few years and then esports betting became a thing. From there I started building analytical models based on stats/objectives and netted myself around a $35k net profit overall in the span of a few years, which was enough to pay for my university fees (in Australia) upfront. I always thought of myself of just having a gambling addiction, but not a gambling problem per se (since in my mind, it wasn't a problem as long as I was making positive EV bets and continuing to win money).
During this time, I got banned via multiple sports betting platforms, though I would work around it by signing up on new accounts (using details from friends/family). At this point I didn't feel as much of the thrill/adrenaline of the bets, because it was just systematic betting that I would place based on the model I made.
However, the issue was when I encountered a continuation of losses. Sometimes after a series of losses I'd get this head fuzz/angeobsession to make the money back, and would bet everything in my account balance to do so (which led to a few times where I just lost $1-3k off one bet, though I rationalised that this didn't affect me too much because I was profitable in the long term, even with these hiccups). It was
So during the Christmas break I decided to trade with leverage on a crypto exchange, which was probably one of the worst decisions of my life. Learning the concept of trading, the movement of the charts, the ability to bid with leverage to make huge $$$ were all factors which made me attracted to trading. . I deposited $10k, and ended up going up to $17.5k after spending a week just binging every resource I could find on technical analysis. I was feeling the euphoria that I did all over again when I first started betting, and when I was in the initial stages of esports betting - I felt on top of the world and just thought this was easy money.
Yesterday, I entered a leveraged trade which ended up with my closing my position at a $2.5k loss. I remember just feeling the rage/head fuzz/adrenaline pump/"do or die" mentality that I would feel after a series of bad beats, with my heart working on overtime and eyes just glazed on the screen. Except this was different from betting, because with the heightened euphoria from being exposed to this "new form of gambling I was good in", came an even higher rage/adrenaline pump from the loss.
I won't lie what happened next was a bit of a blur, I just kept going all in and seeing my balance going lower and lower, until I got liquidated. All this happened over the span of probably 30 minutes or 1 hour? I can't remember.
I think it was only 5-10 minutes later until I realised the gravity of what I had done. But even then, I don't even feel much at all. I learnt about why my position went so bad so fast, and essentially I think in my head I'm just rationalising it by saying it was not a negative EV move based on the charts per se, but moreso information dissymmetry. I keep thinking that if I was just more attentive before I went all in (via continually updating myself with what's happening in the news/twitteetc) then I wouldn't have gotten liquidated (because if I had known that XRP was getting delisted off another exchange then I would have never entered the position I entered into when I went all in).
Even so, I think I will step away from margin trading. This past week has been so chaotic. Even when I was at $17.5k the addiction was driving my haywire. I slept 2-4 hours a day for a whole week, my girlfriend commented about how I seemed very distant/dissociated, and every aspect of my life was just revolved around crypto. I think it's also just shown the extent of how bad that rage/head fuzz feeling was, the need to chase losses immediately, etc. I think I might step away from gambling altogether now to be honest because I'm scared of what can happen if I enter that state of mind again.
I think I'm lucky in the sense that this was money that I was "ok" with losing, and doesn't really affect other aspects of my life (e.g. inability to pay rent, etc). But I'm just shocked at how it all just went away and really really scared of how far I went to try chase losses. I'm also worried about how desenitised I am to losing that much money in a short amount of time because truth is, I don't feel too bad at all about the actual loss, but moreso how it was a very illogical position to take if only I knew about what had happened before I took it (thought I was just catching the knife lol).
Sorry - just wrote an essay, but I think I just needed somewhere to type it all out.

Red Night Progress Report#5 - The Third European War

Greetings Commander. Welcome to your debriefing on the nature of global conflict in Red Night: Nightmare in Europe. When this project existed as but a topic of discussion amongst the developers, there were always a few core tenets in mind. One such tenet was the inclusion of limited scope. Red Night plans to achieve this scope with a stirring climax for the player. Unlike say, The New Order, Red Night does not aspire to multiple decades of content, due to our own limitation on manpower and capacity. Instead, it has a definitive endpoint. How the game ends is up to you the player, but it must end. Yet before we discuss the end, we must discuss the beginning of the end.
The Third Great War
In these last fateful decades, War has become a constant in a sea of variables. The European way of life was twice turned upside down in recent memory by the brutal inhumanity of the First Great War and the frenzied cruelty of the Second. French blood, as well as German, has watered the wreath of the great generals and stained the bones of the children.
It is 1950, and the tempo builds yet again for the final conflict. Paris cries out; that there is no peace but on the bayonet, wielded by the people’s hands! Moscow replies that peace shall be achieved instead with the vengeful arms of the righteous. Through it, all the horseman rides the fields of Europa, pale and awoken from his brief slumber. In his hands rests the world's fate. Which bloody banner shall be the last republic of man?
Flashpoints
Throughout a playthrough of Red Night the player will experience key events on many continents. Proxy wars, rebellions, factional splits. civil wars and sabotage will be common. Such instability is the nature of a world gripped within the throes of evolution.
As the decade nears its end and tension builds the player will be faced with a number of so-called “Flashpoints”. A Flashpoint is anything that has a chance to spark a global war between MARPAC and ETO forces. Here is a sneak peek of a few of those events, which we will provide further details about in their own spotlights at a later time;

It should be noted that war is indeed hard to avoid. If the player maintains peace for long enough they could eventually encounter a scenario that they have no way out of.
The State of Atomic Technology By 1950, both sides of the Vistula possessed nuclear weapons of the small experimental variety and they had yet to be deployed in combat. The Franco-British alliance detonated their first small bomb in a 1945 test over the Atlantic. It was infamously called “Operation Terror”.
Regardless of this early success, the nuclear program was a drain on the Pact’s limited resources. The entire program was accelerated in response to rumours of a full functional German bomb earlier that year. While these rumors were confirmed they would thankfully amount to little, as the German surrender in 1946 came too swiftly for either side to deploy such terrible power. There was no need for a last resort.
The Russian National State, of course, had its own eyes on the nuclear race when it began, and after the Secret Dossier, they even collaborated with the remnant Germans. During the daring exploits of Operation Masterdom, German-Russian joint efforts penetrated deep within Pact occupied territory of Germany and salvaged as well as destroyed all German nuclear facilities and resources. These facilities would be relocated in Konigsberg and later made available to Russian scientists, alongside Germany’s completed nuclear device.
Though Russia started later than the Western powers, they certainly had a technological edge in atomic development. In addition, the natural bounty of the motherland proved to streamline the process. The forces of reaction had quickly caught up.
Kazakhstan would be the detonation site of Rodina-3 in 1948. The test would be graced by the presence of the sickly Vozhd himself, Lavr Kornilov. Russian copycat weapons would enter mass production before their Pact counterparts, as would plan to develop bombs with even greater destructive force.
After 1948 the pact found its own nuclear advantages. With greater availability of resources from North America as well as testing grounds in Africa, (made available after the Plan LE in 1947 liberated the Exiles-occupied part of North Africa) the Pact entered 1950 ready to mass-produce weapons of their own.
PARDAN System and Stages of the Conflict
“La Patrie est en danger!”
The French Defense Readiness level in the Red Night timeline is called PARDAN, this is constantly displayed in-game according to world situation, with five official threat levels:
PARDAN 5: Peace, this state does not exist in-game until a very late time and either bloc collapsed.
PARDAN 4: Caution, this state is the default state of cautious large military presence in the continent.
PARDAN 3: Mobilisation, this state occurs when the tension between the two blocs escalated to a certain point and full mobilisation of the national militaries are ordered.
PARDAN 2: Critical, a state of war exists between France and her allies against the enemy, all national industry and military to the front.
PARDAN 1: Authorisation of full use of military arsenal, including nuclear bombs in a limited number against strategic targets.
PARDAN 0: This state officially do not exists, however this represent the final critical desperate last moment, only activate if the war dragged past the point of no return of PARDAN 1 and one of the two blocs is in possession of ICBM technology, thus enter the final countdown for nuclear salvos to wipe out regions of the enemy.

Revamped first stage of nuclear war
During PARDAN 1, the nuclear war will take the shape of a limited nuclear exchange.Only a small number of warheads will be allowed for the player to use during this phase. These warheads would be delivered via strategic bombers using the vanilla nuke system. However, we have made some changes to the damage of these vanilla nukes. In essence, the vanilla system still exists but has been revamped.

As you can see regular nukes now destroy any and all army units stationed where they explode..Regular nukes will also create a temporarily impassable zone, representing the initial nuclear shock. These zones will be cleared after a few days. This mechanic will force you to be considerate when nuking the frontline, lest you accidentally wipe out your army alongside the enemy. Nukes are not toys! They are however a great tool to stop enemy offensives and destroy their units if you have troops to spare. Remember that the nuclear shock is also a window of opportunity to fill holes, so it won’t be a one-way street.
Last stage nuclear war
PARDAN 0 is the endgame.
All restrictions on nuclear weapons are lifted at this stage, first for the losing faction and next for the winning one. You will gain access to the entire national stockpile and to the ICBM and salvo attack decision panel. The ICBM panel will provide you with a list of targets that you can launch devastating salvo attacks on. However, to initiate such a launch the player must complete a complicated procedure.
For balance purposes, you need to repeat the launch procedure before each ICBM salvo attack. During this critical phrase all bets are off. The enemy will be forced into a desperate slog, and must rush to capture your headquarters as fast as possible before the nuclear devastation is unsalvageable. Remember that while the winning faction has delayed access to the salvo attacks, they will retaliate as well, so it's a gamble you as the player must take.
Some additional notes regarding salvo attacks. ICBMs are a resource and should be considered precious. Each attack will consume a number of nukes from your available stockpile. Also, a salvo attack will render the damaged area permanently destroyed and unusable due to the more destructive payload.. The impasse will never clear, as it represents a high concentration of nuclear fallout as opposed to a single tactical detonation.
Finally, sometimes the ICBM attack might fail to destroy the targeted enemy city. In such a case the player is allowed to attack said location in the next launch cycle. With another strike you may knock it down for good.

When the dust settles...
Eventually, the Third Great War will end, with destruction of unknown scale. Just how miserable the radiated denizens of Europe will be is up to you (Red Night will contain multiple endings). Regardless, there are parts of two potential endings in the aftermath of either side’s victory that we would like to showcase.
Please note that the scenarios shown are only some of the tag changes to the major countries. Other divisions, tags, and potential balkanization will be revealed at a later date.

The Pact’s victory in the war will bring back to Russia the long-enduring Government-in-exile of the Russian Federative Soviet Socialist Republic. Under French influence and necessity, the “Soviet” nature of this new republic will be minimal compared to the old days of 1917. Leading the reborn republic will be the next President of the RSFSR in exile; Grigori Sokolnikov. Sokolnikov emerged as leader after the death of Stalin during the course of the gameplay time frame. He is one of the last old Bolsheviks and the figurehead of the nation.
However, the legitimacy of the Red Emigrés have relied much more on their contribution to the PACT armed forces rather than their political presence. As such, real power in the new RSFSR will rest with the officers of the Bolshevik Legion. The legion is much more respected by France and vastly more influential than the civilian cartel of the Bolshevik Party. This situation only got worse after the death of Stalin alongside most of the original party leaders.Kliment Voroshilov stands as the Major-General of the Legion during the 50s. This position will enable him to lead the restored RSFSR as the real de-facto leader.
Unlike an ETO victory, you will be able to restore the RSFSR ingame when you reach the Urals. This event will often collapse the Russian government, which will leave a series of state remnants, separatists, and loyalists. As earlier mentioned most of these factions will be revealed at a later time. However, we can provide details on one such group shown in the teaser above. The Central Siberia Salvation Front based in Omsk is continuing the valiant struggle against the godless invaders to save Russia.

In the event of a victory by the Pact, the United Kingdom will be restored in Britain under an exile military officer and his organisation based in Scandinavia and Russia. General Sir Ormonde Winter is the heartless man tasked with the job. The status of the Windsor monarchy in Australia would not be addressed in the current time frame, however, as a Russian puppet, the “Kingdom” will only be so in name. The new United Kingdom will be without an actual monarch for a long time.
In France, a small opportunist faction of the local Jacobins in alliance with the underground right-wing will take power in the collapse of the Social Republic. The so-called “French National Salvation Front” will conduct a quisling-esque situation to bring the Undersecretary of Veterans of Revolutionary Wars Francois Mitterand to power.
And that its folks, we will see you next time in the alternative history modding battlefield. We always appreciate good coders and other kinds of talent to help out, so please apply if you feel so inclined!
