The Catalan government has announced updated rules and guidelines relating to the ongoing pandemic.
TLDR: as of Monday 8 February, you can:

• travel within your comarca (was municipality)
• go to the gym (30%, and you have to book)
• go to lunch or breakfast at a restaurant for 1 hour more

You are not allowed to leave or enter Catalonia without good reason (e.g. work, emergency, important administrative reasons, court summons, caring for dependents, etc).
Comarcal (county, NOT municipal) lockdown from Monday 8 February - 22 February

• You may not leave your comarca (county, e.g. Barcelonès, Vallès Occidental) during this time, except for good reason (e.g. work, school, looking after dependents, medical emergency, etc). Here is a map of the comarques of Catalonia.
• This overrules the previous municipal lockdown. You are no longer limited to staying in one town/municipality.
• For anyone living in Barcelona, this means that you can travel freely between BCN, l'Hospitalet, Badalona, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramanet.
• You can download the updated self-declaration form here
• You can meet in groups of 6 people max, from up to 2 'bubble' groups

The daily curfew rules remain:

• Everyone should be off the streets and indoors between 2200-0600.
• Public transport schedules do not change
• You can use a "self responsibility certificate" (see above) to explain why you're breaking the rules
• Fines range from 300€ to 6,000€

Bars and restaurants:

• May open from 7.30 am to 10.30 am, and from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm
• May open during the rest of the day, but only for takeaways
• Max 4 people per table (6 if you all live together)
• Indoors: 30% occupancy
• Terraces: 100% occupancy
• 2 meter safety distance must be observed for all customers
• Deliveries until 11pm, collect take out until 10pm

Shops, stores and other businesses:

• All non-essential shops and stores closed at weekends
• Shopping centers closed
• All stores over 400m2 closed for the full 10 days
• Hairdressers and beauty salons can open, clients need a prior appointment

Culture

• Cinemas, theaters and concert halls may open to 50% occupancy (max 500 people)
• Museums and galleries open to 50%
• Bookshops can open normally

Education

• Some university courses will now require attendance
• After-school activities remain suspended

Sport and fitness

• Outdoor sports facilities open (max 50% occupancy)
• Gyms may open to 30% occupancy. Clients will need to book in advance. Changing rooms cannot be used except for going swimming
• Competitions remain suspended
• Outdoors sports activities in groups of 6 max

Others

• Casinos, bingo halls etc remain closed
• Indoor playgrounds remain closed
• Outdoor playgrounds open until 8pm
• Religious and civil ceremonies allowed, up to 30% occupancy

Work

• Companies should encourage working from home, where possible
• Conventions, trade shows and fairs etc. are all banned

Notes from Today's press conference

• 0 new local cases
• 1 new case in hotel quarantine
• 50,000 tests conducted since Sunday
• 306 out of 317 contacts have been tested and returned negative results
• WA will exit lockdown at 6.00pm this afternoon
• Southwest will revert to pre-lockdown conditions

• Small businesses and charities impacted by 5-day lockdown will be able to access $500 offset on electricity bills
• 512 person cap for WA for international arrivals will extend until end of February. WA will use this time to further strengthen hotel quarantine system

• 30 million checkins made with app
• 1.5 million individuals registered

🎥 Recap from yesterday

• WA has gone four days in a row of full lockdown with zero new cases recorded.
• 191 close contacts have now tested negative. 156 have tested negative, results pending for the rest. Four “high risk” close contacts have tested negative twice.
• In addition, 258 casual contacts have also been identified; 200 of these have returned negative results.
• The four high-risk close contacts of the case have been retested and returned their second negative test results late yesterday.

At 8:40pm AWST, McGowan held a Press Conference and advised the following:
Pending ongoing testing results and expert health advice, lockdown restrictions for Perth, Peel and the South-West will be lifted at 6:00pm tomorrow evening (Friday 5 February).
Following that, stay-at-home rules will be lifted - and interim restrictions will apply to Perth and Peel.
The South West will immediately return to pre-lockdown conditions at 6pm tomorrow (Friday 5 February).
A post-lockdown transition period for the Perth and Peel regions to keep WA safe and resume a more COVID-safe way of life will remain in place until 12.01am Sunday morning, 14 February – allowing for the full 14-day incubation period to run its course.
All Western Australians must continue to practise physical distancing where possible and maintain good personal hygiene at all times.
The post lockdown transitional measures for the Perth and Peel regions, include the following measures:

• Everyone must continue to wear a mask in public and while at work, unless exempt or for outdoor vigorous exercise
• All business and venues can reopen, except for the casino and nightclubs
• 4 square metre capacity rule in place for most venues
• 150-person capacity – excluding staff – at hospitality, entertainment and venues and events including weddings and funerals at these venues
• Community sport can start, and involve up to 150 people including players, officials and spectators.
• Seated service only at hospitality venues
• Dancing only permitted at weddings and dance studios
• 20-person limit for private indoor and outdoor gatherings
• Visits to aged care and disability care facilities restricted to compassionate grounds
• Residential school and boarding facilities can resume with a COVID Safety Plan
• Only essential travel is permitted in and out of the Perth and Peel regions to other parts of WA.

Under the post-lockdown transition measures, Perth and Peel schools will start from Monday, 8 February, with the mandatory mask rule applying to all school staff and secondary students. Masks are not required for primary school students.
Masks are also mandatory for staff at childcare facilities as well as students and staff in higher education, including TAFEs and universities.
Teaching staff are permitted to remove their mask if teaching at the front of the classroom to enable clear enunciation.
People who need to leave the Perth and Peel region for essential purposes must wear a mask at all times in other regions of WA, as per the rules in place in Perth and Peel.
Elective surgery at WA public hospitals will resume once the lockdown has ended and people will be contacted directly to re-schedule and re-book their appointments which were suspended due to the five-day lockdown.
FIFO workers will once again be able to leave the Perth and Peel regions, but documentation will be required and they must follow strict health protocols.
COVID-safe measures including the use of contact registers and SafeWA will continue to be crucial as part of post-lockdown life.

Hey guys, this post is not intended to tell you what to do. I'm not a financial advisor. This isn't my day job. I am not even a day trader. I learned the difference between call and put options like 3 months ago. I don't trade options. I don't even know how yet, to be frank. I recently got an RH account to try to learn how and then this shit blew up. This post is viewable to the general public and is not "insider knowledge". Everything I am about to say, I have gleaned from PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE DATA. That Hedge funds and other people in the media, the government, and in the general public ALL have access to. This is MORE VISIBLE than even Facebook. Let alone a country club or private "dinner party". Just saying. I am a real person. I am not a bot. I am not trying to screw anyone over. I like the stock I am choosing to gamble my disposable income on and think it will be a good investment regardless of the action over the next few weeks. 💎🙌
I CAN earn it back if I have to. I didn't stake my entire savings. I don't advise people to gamble with money they don't have. Not for financial reasons, solely, but more for mental health reasons.
Bias disclosure: I currently have 1882 shares of AMC at an average price of 9.27$ and I occupied Wall Street for a bit after the financial crisis, mostly on reddit as I was in medical school at the time, and supported occupy the SEC. Please see my post history. It's all there in the top posts. I have nothing to hide as I know I am a valued member of our society, I pay my taxes, I treat mental illness, I follow the law, and I don't normally gamble. This is not about the money for me personally, it's about principle. It's my token of rememberance for the failed actions of our government to hold these types of people accountable for the great recession and the subprime mortgage crisis. Also, WSB just happened to stumble upon these criminal vulture firms, in the act of active company rape and decided to give them a licking. If you were interested in GME and were one of the people on the other side [IE at one of these firms] reading the discussion over at WSB should have been your job as a form of market research. If you missed the warning, it's not Reddit's fault. If you suck at your job, it's not Reddit's fault. I don't see how pinning them in that position was illegal. It wasn't planned, it wasn't private. It developed organically like a movement. It continues to grow. Silencing us will only make it louder. You need to level the playing field and regulate the markets. What they did to defend themselves was illegal. The manipulation of the market and the media was illegal. The restriction of buying was illegal. The algorithmic ladder attacks were illegal. Thus I will hold the line, as I HAVE been since Tuesday. It's been a wild ride and I'm tired of this shitshow. I want to get back to normal investing after this fiasco. It's much better for my sleep.
*So here goes my theoretical question. AGAIN, I AM NOT saying you SHOULD do this. What you do is your call. I am asking if this has been done before or if it even can be done. I'm a n00b. Educate me. I'm trying to learn how the arena works. Like how it really works.
If short ladders by algorithms are being used to artificially deflate the stock price. IE: tanking the price of AMC with low trade volumes that they simply pass amongst themselves. I think yesterday it was 5% buy and hold and 95% sell for AMC but each time with low volumes in a very predictable pattern. (Trey from the link below explained it very well several times better than me.)...
What prevents retail traders from spacing out their purchase orders to 1-10 shares at a time and holding. Wouldn't that be better than just impulse buying 100 shares because you want in and you like the stock? Would it do the same thing as short laddering but in converse? Just curious. Would like to hear your opinions.

I've been watching this channel to learn about AMC action and markets in general and it has been super educational.

*I am not investing in AMC to make a quick buck. I am not a day trader or a pump and dumper. I am doing this because I think AMC will not die from the pandemic, was artificially deflated by vulture hedge funds, almost to the point of bankruptcy, and will NOW be able to pivot into a better business model with fresher screens, Hollywood exclusive releases, fancier theaters, pent up demand, etc., with the new capital and public interest. People LIKE the MOVIES. I grew up in NJ and movie theaters were a HUGE part of my life and many of my most memorable moments occurred at the movies. They make me warm and fuzzy. They have a certain nostalgia for me personally and I like supporting local business when I can. [I know AMC was bought by China, but the staff are all local]. In my opinion GME has an antiquated business model bc I buy games on STEAM and online. AMC was only struggling because of COVID and I don't think that otherwise people would completely stop going to the movies. We Americans LOVE going to the movies. I love going to the movies. That's just my opinion. Don't hate on me for it. I think that the "real value" of AMC is AT LEAST about 10-20$ which is what they were at before 2020 and it wasn't even their peak value. Even if the real value is closer to 5$, according to the arguments of experts, that's just their fucking opinion. It's a different situation now and I don't agree. Is that my right to disagree with them and pick my own stocks? Or can I only bet on what Fox Business tells me to. Or Jim Cramer. As an individual investor, am I free in this country to spend my money how I want on the stock market, or am I not? Am I free to make my own choices about whether to buy a stock or not? At least I think I should be. If I am not, it will solidify my opinion [and the watching world's opinion] that "free market" capitalism is indeed a farce. It will highly depreciate the value of the American dream and my respect for our current government. Which I was Ecstatic about during Election Day. ****IMPORTANT ADDENDUM****: I want to add that I was quite revved up when I wrote this and have had some time to reflect. I want to stress that it is not my intention to lay blame or judge any individual person or organization for the current situation [Of stacked odds in the retail investor vs hedge fund battle]. Emotions run high in the stock market. I know this through experience now. I was angry when I wrote this post. [I am leaving it unedited for posterity and since whoever needed to see it already saw it so removing it would be pointless] This should not become a witch hunt or be personal. These guys and girls are people too. They work for a corporation. They earn a paycheck. They have friends, partners, and families too. I am a person. You, reader, are a person. Don't make this personal. They didn't invent algorithms and weren't the ones that necessarily wanted to take these short positions. The market calculus at the time, dictated that this was a good call for them, it wasn't. We accidentally stumbled upon it on WSB and shit-posted about it until it blew up and they were really in a bind. I understand their calculus to a degree, but I am a "smooth brained" "retard" when it comes to these things. I am learning fast though. I understand that certain companies are likely to fail and it is possible to make a profit off that. My moral views about it are irrelevant as the situation they're in dictates their actions, not my personal views about that. I understand that they're getting screwed at the moment and I'm sorry. I truly hope most of them do not get too damaged by this and have had time to change their positions. But I also believe in the American dream, and think that the people that were able to find a good position in the stock market [the retail investors] should be rewarded. I sincerely hope this doesn't trigger a massive systemic issue and we don't accidentally BREAK the stock market with this action on those stocks. This country has been through too much and we finally have a shot at beating COVID and have a competent administration that can guide us back on the right track. Dear Government: If you want this to end, don't you have the power to delist these "Meme" companies and distribute the shares somehow? If not, the the system is truly stronger than our institutions. If you do this, please make sure people don't lose their life savings somehow. That would be nice. Then, please try to make sure this won't happen again and that the SEC actually regulates and prosecutes people so their calculus isn't that the fines are too low to justify following the rules. I'm one of those idiots that bought into the hype. Im in 14 AMC @ 14 and 1 GME @ 313(doh). Nothing that's going to absolutely wreck me, I had a tiny portfolio as is, and was mostly just playing around to get a feel for it before all this went down was actually up 100 bucks and excited. Honestly; I feel bad for all the people that saw this as a get-rich-quick opportunity. This was always a casino.

Even investing, which are considered the "brains of stocks" here on reddit think you clearly don't understand how this works, because they've ALSO tried explaining it to you and you downvote spam them as well in their sub. Yes you, who has been day trading all of one week has more insight to this mess than people who have been doing this for years. Cringe.
In short, you're "fighting the man" by just throwing money at the man. Everytime it dips and you buy more and hold, you're just hemorrhaging more money. You're not "fucking over wallstreet" you got swept up in a spectacle and now you're too far deep in it to back out, it's everyone's fault but your own apparently. You saw dollar signs and YOLOs and infinite rockets to the fucking moon, and you'd get to stick it to suits along the way. You're just shoving more of your money into another suits pocket, and possibly even Melvin Capitals depending on their options.
Just holding the stock doesn't guarantee you 10k a share, it's not a blank check it literally is a meme babe, simply grabbing all the stock you can and holding it for ransom until the stock market fairy presses a magic button and suits pay you whatever price you ask for, isn't how this works. They don't HAVE to buy it back from you at any given date..if there even are shorts at this point. They have all your data at the press of a button and you have to just speculate on all their positions. Hell, for as much money as you all have pumped into the system in the last 48 hours you've probably paid their interest off at LEAST. AMC and GME realistically aren't long term plays unless they merge with larger companies. Theaters were dying pre-covid, and gamestop was no better off, however it may possibly happen now because of the media attention, who knows. The suits are better at this chess game than you, clearly. They've been doing it much longer than any of us, and have access to infinite information, knowledge and tools. Is it right? Not really. "Short Ladder Attacks" you're seeing is just large numbers of shares being bought and sold at once. This is literally how volatile stocks look ffs.
Anyway, I'll hold for the hell of it, because I didn't gamble more than I can afford to lose and sell at zero for a total loss. Forward, I'll be less likely to get caught up in the hubbub of social media, do my own DD, learn how to navigate, and take control of my own rocket instead of trying to leap onto someone else's because they said it's going if we just hold on. Fuck, maybe I'll keep them not as a trophy of the time I said "fuck you" to wallstreet but rather not to make stupid financial decisions because of meme culture. If this moons I'll 100% eat crow, but this is looking bear as all hell.

This morning, I convened an urgent meeting of the Emergency Management Team.
We have a serious update to provide the WA community.
This morning we received news of a positive COVID-19 test result.
That positive result has come from a male hotel quarantine security guard, in his 20s.
The information we have is fast-evolving. As you can understand, immediately our teams moved into place to begin contact tracing and put in place emergency response systems.
This is all underway, and I ask everyone to be cooperative and understanding of what is going to take place.
Here is what we know about the male who tested positive:
He was working at one of the State’s hotel quarantine facilities – the Sheraton Four Points in the city. He had tested negative for COVID-19 on January Friday 15, January Sunday 17 and Saturday January 23 – as part of the weekly testing system in place. When the man was working at this hotel, there were four active cases of COVID-19. Of those four cases, we have at least three confirmed variant strains, two UK and one South African. We are told the guard was working on the same floor, as a positive UK variant case. The guard completed two 12-hours shifts on both the 26th and 27th of January. Exactly how the infection was acquired remains under investigation.
The Health Department contact tracing team has pulled together a list of potential exposure sites of where this positive case has been in recent days. These locations currently include:

• Coles Maylands supermarket on 25 January from 8pm to 10pm
  
• KFC Maylands on 27 January from 6pm to midnight
  
• Mitsubishi Motors car dealership in Midland on 27 January from 7pm to close
  
• Spudshed, Coventry Village in Morley on 27 January from 8pm to midnight
  
• ECU Joondalup on 28 January from 11am to 2pm
  
• Consulate General of India on St Georges Terrace in Perth on 28 January from 12pm to 5pm
  
• Halal Grocery Store in Cloverdale on 28 January from 7pm to 9pm
  
• Venus Ladies and Gentleman Hair Design Maylands hairdressers on 29 January from 1pm to 3pm
  
• Perth Convention Centre on 29 January from 4pm to 6pm
  
• Nedlands Family Practice GP surgery on 29 January from 5pm to 6pm
  
• Chemist Warehouse North Perth Pharmacy on 29 January from 5.30pm to 7.30pm
  
• 7-Eleven Ascot petrol station on 29 January from 8pm to 9pm
  
• Coles Maylands supermarket on 29 January from 8pm 9pm
  
• Puma Service Station in Burswood on 30 January from 11am to 12 midday.
  
• Coles Express/Shell Service Station in Cloverdale on 30 January from 12 midday to 3pm
  
• Pharmacy 777 at Maylands Park Shopping Centre 30 January from 2.30pm to 4pm.
  

People who have been to these venues on these dates and times must get tested.
In addition, people who live or work in the Falkirk Avenue, Maylands area including Coles, Liquorland and the Maylands shopping precinct should present for a test. They must then go home and isolate until their negative test results are returned.
The investigation is on-going by our public health team, and it is likely more locations will be added following further discussions with the man.
Close contacts will be contacted by public health officials and asked to quarantine for 14 days.
More information on testing clinics will be available on our website – the WA Health and WA Gov websites.
The man’s immediate household contacts have been contacted, tested and placed in isolation at State managed quarantine facilities to complete a 14-day quarantine period in a quarantine facility.
All three have tested negative this morning. However, we can expect that they will become positive in coming days.
Genome sequencing is underway on the positive case and results will be known by Tuesday morning.
However, based on the information we have, it appears possible that this new positive case has the highly transmissible UK variant.
The past year has been unlike any other – Western Australia has done an incredible job. It’s something I am so proud of.
But as we have always known with COVID – it can change very quickly.
Today – we need to go back to what we know best, to ensure we limit community transmission of COVID-19 in our State.
Even though it was nearly 10 months ago – WA has experienced community transmission of this virus before.
We all did the right thing and we crushed it.
And it worked.
So beginning at 6pm tonight, the whole Perth metropolitan area, the Peel region and the South West region will be going into a full lockdown.
This lockdown will run until 6pm on Friday.
A five-day lockdown.
It’s crucial we act quickly, to keep the community safe.
We cannot forget how quickly this virus can spread, nor the devastation it can cause.
Following our discussions with the Chief Health Officer and Police Commissioner, the following measures will be put in place from 6pm for people in Perth, Peel and the South West:
People in these regions are required to stay home, except for the following four reasons:

• Shopping for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies.
  
• Medical or health care needs including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable.
  
• Exercise, within their neighbourhood, but only with one other person and only for one hour per day.
  
• Work, where you cannot work from home or remotely.
  

In addition to this Stay Home rule.
If you do leave home, for one of the four reasons you will be required to wear a mask at all times outside and if you need to work indoors, then wearing a mask in the workplace is also mandatory.
To be clear, mask wearing on public transport is also mandatory.
People in the Perth, Peel or South West region need to stay inside their region for the next five days, unless for an essential reason.
We are strongly encouraging that everyone in this area, who is from another WA region, stay here and do not travel further outside of this area until the lockdown is over.
If you do need to travel outside the region you are in now, that can only occur if you need to return to your place of residence or exceptional circumstances.
The transport of essential goods into this region, is permitted, under our existing transport guidelines.
This lockdown means the following businesses, venues and locations in the relevant regions need to close for the next five days:

• Pubs, bars and clubs
• Gyms and indoor sporting venues
• Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor recreational facilities
• Cinemas, entertainment venues, and casinos
• Large religious gatherings and places of worship
• Libraries and cultural institutions

Restaurants and cafes will close, and provide takeaway service only.
10 people can attend funerals, weddings are cancelled for the next five days.
No visitors are permitted to your home, unless caring for someone vulnerable or an emergency.
No visitors will be allowed in aged care homes, unless exceptional circumstances.
No visitors to hospitals and/or disability facilities, unless exceptional circumstances.
Elective surgery and procedures for categories 2 and 3 will be suspended from Tuesday, 2 February. Category 1 and urgent category 2 surgery will continue.
For a majority of schools in these regions, school was due to start tomorrow.
That has now been put on hold and schools will be closed until next week – following the lockdown measures.
It is, in effect, an extension of the school holidays.
I have been in contact with the Prime Minister and my fellow State and Territory colleagues to advise them of this situation.
I have recommended that they put a stop to any travel into WA – as an extra precautionary measure.
Border controls are important here – and I 100% support them to ensure we can get through this.
All these measures will be reviewed regularly and the Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor the serious situation and provide more ongoing advice. This is an extremely fast-moving situation.
I know for many Western Australians this is going to come as a shock.
Western Australians have done so well for so long but this week it is absolutely crucial that we stay home, maintain physical distancing and personal hygiene and get tested if you have symptoms.
This is a very serious situation and each and every one of us has to do everything we personally can to help stop the spread in the community.
We have acted decisively and swiftly given these circumstances.
I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience.
In effect, for a short period of time, we are going back to what we experienced in March and April.
This is a highly unpredictable virus. But it is important to act calmly and take sensible precautions.

Opening Remarks

• Alberta must continue to proceed cautiously
• System is managing as a province, but some hospital facilities is still significant
• Peak reached in early January (>90% Covid capable bed occupancy)
• Problem in every region of the province as many rural regions are cared for in Calgary/Edmonton
• All healthcare workers have limits and we must protect capacity
• Notes (i) Peter Lougheed and Butterdome field units, (ii) AHS having no budget limits at the moment, and (iii) limited staff available

Restrictions

• Recognizes that stress that comes with economic and employment instability
• Why a "lockdown" has never been imposed with curfews, closed schools, and business closure
• Broad public support and compliance is important
• To strike this balance, wants to show a path forward...that bending curve lets public health measures lift
• Must be carefully, slowly, and data driven

Restriction Metrics

• Restrictions will be lifted in a stepped approach based on hospitalizations (ICU and general acute) values. It is a lagging indicator of healthcare capacity
• When a benchmark is reached, discussion will be considered for further advancement of relaxation. Hospitalizations will be primary factor, but growth of cases will also be considered

Details of Relaxation Plan

• Step 1 - Begins February 8th: Some easing in school function (indoooutdoor sports, performance activities), some indoor fitness, some dine-in options for restaurants/cafes/pubs bound by clear limitations (e.g. - distancing requirements, group size, masking, etc).
• Step 2 - Requires: Average hospitalization <450: Some easing for retail, banquet halls, community halls, hotels, conference centres. Some further easing on children sports/performance, indoor fitness
• Step 3 - Requires: Average hospitalization <300: Consider places of worship and limited reopening of museums, libraries, casinos, and indoor seated events. Consider indoor indoor social gatherings with limitations. All that are considered will have restrictions still
• Step 4 - Requires: Average hospitalization <150: Restrictions will exist, but will be closer to last summer. Wide range of indoor and indoor activities would be considered. Wedding/funeral receptions, trade shows, are on the table at this point
• Requires buy in from Albertans
• As measures are eased, community spread can occur
• Moving from 1 stage to another will not be automatic - it will be open for discussion
• Leading indicators will be used to warn of "red flags" for pausing relaxation

A Canadian millionaire and his wife could face up to six months in jail after they were caught posing as motel workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from a mobile clinic, according to reports.
Casino owner Rodney Baker, 55, and his wife, Ekaterina, 32, flew from Vancouver to Beaver Creek, home to mostly Indigenous people who live in smaller populations. Individuals in the Yukon Territory, where Beaver Creek is located, do not need identification to get vaccinated.
The couple were discovered for their alleged fraud after receiving the injections and then asking to immediately be flown home, according to the BBC. Locals checked the motel where the couple claimed to work and discovered they did not work there.
The couple was fined $2,300 Canadian ($1,800 U.S.) for breaching coronavirus rules, but community elders have demanded a tougher penalty.
Courts ordered a hold on the couple’s airplane tickets home and for the Bakers to appear in court. If found guilty, the couple could face up to six months in jail, The Guardian reported.
"I am outraged by this selfish behavior," Yukon's Community Services Minister John Streicker said. "We had not been imagining that someone would go to this sort of length to mislead or deceive."

There are lots of problems posted to this subreddit, I thought I would share some of my success with the Kindle Fire 7 and my 4 year old twin girls. Hopefully some here can share their experiences.
My girls love the tablets, but I've had to curate the content with an iron fist.
Here's how they're set up:

• Freetime Unlimited is removed from their profiles.
• Web browsing is disabled from their profiles
• Movies are disabled from their profiles
• My wife's Amazon Prime account can share books through Prime Reading, this has some good children's books such as Pete the cat or the Mr Men books... but the girls rarely open them. They can't read yet.
• The app time limit is set to 45m. This lets me force them to get exercise breaks, clean up, take bathroom breaks or just stop without too much trouble. They're used to the tablet locking them out. I extend it from the UI on the tablet itself, else it's not reliable to extend.

What do my girls do with the tablets?

• 90% of the time they're playing Khan Academy Kids... switching from number games, word games, books, drawing, colouring etc, etc. ... that app is awesome for this age. Without it, I'm not sure they'd like the tablets at all.
• PBS Kids "Play and Learn Engineering", they figured it out end to end. It's not very challenging, but it was very good for them to learn to navigate apps on a tablet
• They're figuring out how to doodle on camera photos
• RV AppStudios ABC Kids - Tracing and Phonics, - I evaluated this game and figured the interest would be short-lived, but the game has "stickers" and "toys" to collect, so the past week they've been obsessed with practicing their alphabet and matching lowercase letters to uppercase, etc to get toys and compare what they have with their sister. Very relevant for the age... although it sounds like they're playing slots in a Vegas casino... which worries me.
• I created a children's profile of my own which has the Freetime Unlimited enabled. The Kids+ app on my iPad lets me access the books there to read to them, this has many excellent kids books, this means Freetime Unlimited is not useless to me, particularly since our public library's ebook loans are backed up for 6+Mo due to Covid.

Problems

• The wifi doesn't work after the tablet is asleep for an extended period. I have to disable and enable the wifi before handing them their tablets, else it just doesn't work.
• Sometimes Khan Academy freezes. Restarting the tablet fixes this. The girls have learned to be patient.
• Books are not reliable... it seems like the DRM gets confused. This is true for books which were outright purchased as Kindle Edition or books from Prime. This is a serious disappointment and impossible to explain to a 4 year old. Hopefully it's just temporary.
• The fonts are too small when reading books. the 7" displays don't seem to be the issue, even on a full sized iPad with Kids+, the text is small. Zoom is bad on the Kids+ iPad app and *unusable* on the Kindle. This is going to be a serious issue when they start reading on their own.
• Parental controls from the dashboard e.g., "disable device" can take 10 minutes to kick in. Useless as a way to "take their tablet away". You'll still have to pull it from their hands while they need to do "one more thing."

What I would like to do

• Find an photo app for young children which would engage them to try photography
• Find a music app which would let me load songs and let them play them to dance to etc.
• Find any game which would let them play head-to-head play. Using the tablet to teach the concept of "rules" and "turns"... I mean Tic-Tac-Toe, or card matching memory games level stuff... these girls are 4.
• Find a coding-like app which would get them thinking about coding (I tried Lightbot Jr, they don't get it yet. Not being able to just move the robot with controls seems dumb to them)
• Drum machine music making stuff... ( I tried pianos, they kind of like them for a few minutes then get bored)

I strongly suspect I'll be replacing these with iPads when they get older, that will have its own challenges, although at least books will work... but until then, the girls love the tablets and the content is mostly positive and helpful.

Order to a casino / hotel and i texted customer at the store that we are not allowed up because security has Covid rules in regards to delivery. Told them to please meet me somewhere.. anywhere else. They don’t reply. I get to the hotel and they do not reply again. I set timer. With less than a minute to go they magically reply with a bunch of exclamations and super rude that they are coming! Timer runs out at the casino. I ask where they are and they have the nerve to say “Casinos name”!!! Are you kidding me? No joke you’re there! Their description of themselves was wearing a black. I mean you can’t make this up. Other customer on the stack is asking what’s up.. and I’m just so over it at this point I put the pizza down and took a photo and peaced our with supports blessings as well.
Just wish there was more common sense or courtesy to go around 😩

TL;DR - I finally realized that my “moon” is just being able to support my family and enjoy my job at the same time.

My wife and I used to work in the film industry, which shut down completely all year during Covid. In April and May we rebalanced our savings (had been almost entirely stonks) and bought some bitcoin. At the time it seemed like a bold move, but we had no idea when we would be back to work, or what was going to happen. Gold seemed like a good idea, until you actually look into trying to buy gold, and that’s why we revisited BTC, which I had held for some time in 2017 and sold before it crashed, but had basically gotten out of.
So, we started collecting stimulus and unemployment, and I stopped freaking out about when we’d be back to work. Instead, we decided immediately to get some film equipment we’d been looking at, and start shooting a YouTube show of her cooking, and try to put together a Covid-ready shoot of a movie we wrote the script for. We figured - hey, let’s invest this money in equipment and skills. Our thought was we’d start a video production company after the pandemic.
Well, fast forward, we actually managed to shoot our movie safely, and it’s being edited now, and a friend of mine hired me to edit videos for his company. It was basically the ideal job in every respect - work from home, for good friends of mine, start late, editing videos of celebrities talking to each other (I signed an NDA or I would name drop). I have loved working for them, and I was learning some skills to put towards our own business, right? Everything was great... except the pay. It was half what I used to make, plus 1099 instead of W2, plus non-Union so I don’t get any health care benefits and pension. But it’s not all about the money, right? And now isn’t really the time to be picky, I was unemployed for an entire year.
So I took the job and was loving it. Then two weeks ago my wife came to me and told me she is pregnant with our first child. Here’s the funny part - we know the exact day this child was conceived, because we tried exactly one time. So the pregnancy was a bit of a shock. But still, the happiest news I’ve ever gotten.
I started being terrible at my job. Couldn’t focus, couldn’t hit deadlines. All I could think about was the riot at the Capitol, and Bitcoin’s price, and reading about bitcoin, and reading about sound money. Because, oh yeah, I convinced my wife to move all of our savings to Bitcoin right BEFORE we found out we were pregnant. We both agree that on some level we both knew, that the hormones and pheromones were signaling us to make plans for the baby our conscious brains didn’t know about yet. And before we did the pregnancy test, we had already planned to move everything over.
So today I finally wrote them and quit my job. Because I realized there is so much more at stake, and what they are able to pay is not sustainable to raise my kid.
I know what I’m doing is the right decision, but even my father asked “aren’t you supposed to have a new job before you quit the old one”? And I asked him “if Warren Buffet wants to sit in cash and look for a good deal, no one tells him he’s being lazy, right?” He seemed to think that was a good point, so he dropped it.
Here’s where I’m at - my wife and I have everything we could want. We made a movie from a script we wrote together. We have a baby on the way. We have a house with a low mortgage and the money to pay it off if we want to, and we have some bitcoin beyond that still too. We have decided to sit on the sidelines like Buffet and wait this out.
Obviously there’s also tremendous upside of BTC goes to $100k. Then we’ll look like geniuses. But here’s the thing - all we will have done for that money is read a lot and push some buttons. And suddenly wealth will transfer out of society at large and to us. We can’t build a society where all wealth creation is a casino.
And this is why we need Bitcoin. We need sound money, precisely so that no one can push a few buttons one afternoon and become a millionaire. We need the money supply to be stable so that prices can be stable so that we can all plan for our futures, and not keep gambling like we have for the last century.
I know I made the right decision quitting the job, but at the same time, it’s hard not be mad that the whole issue is just a price mismatch between what they have budgeted and what I need to make. The only reason prices fluctuate like this is monetary debasement. Here we have friends working together making things, and just because the fed is printing too much money, that arrangement becomes untenable. It’s insane.
None of this holds a candle to my neighbor, though. He and his partner have several kids. He’s been trying to buy a house, and he’s pre-approved, but then he got offered a Union job that paid double. Same kind of work, he SHOULD take it. But because of the rules they’ve written to protect from bad loans being written, he would lose his pre-approved status if he switched jobs, and couldn’t get it back til he was Union for two years. So he didn’t. In what fucked up world do we live in where he has to turn down a better job to get a house? In what world do we build luxury condos next to homeless people? In what world are there food surpluses and starving kids? A world without sound money.
I used to think holding on for dear life was about the volatility, and I guess it was. But now I realize, it’s about sound money, low time preference, a society that looks forward to the future - it’s about holding on because life is dear.
The baby’s due in September. Between now and then I’m now totally free to get this world ready for them.

The friend made the case that Mr. Biden had gotten more votes, and historically we recognize the person with the most votes. Normally, we accept the outcome of elections just as we accept the outcomes of sporting events. So, my friend asked why was 2020 different? Having spent more than four years watching the left “resist” President Donald Trump and focus entirely on undoing and undermining the 2016 election, it took me several days to understand the depth of my own feelings. As I thought about it, I realized my anger and fear were not narrowly focused on votes. My unwillingness to relax and accept that the election grew out of a level of outrage and alienation unlike anything I had experienced in more than 60 years involvement in public affairs. The challenge is that I — and other conservatives — are not disagreeing with the left within a commonly understood world. We live in alternative worlds. The left’s world is mostly the established world of the forces who have been dominant for most of my life. My world is the populist rebellion which believes we are being destroyed, our liberties are being cancelled and our religions are under assault. (Note the new Human Rights Campaign to decertify any religious school which does not accept secular sexual values — and that many Democrat governors have kept casinos open while closing churches though the COVID-19 pandemic.) We also believe other Democrat-led COVID-19 policies have enriched the wealthy while crushing middle class small business owners (some 160,000 restaurants may close). In this context, let’s talk first about the recent past and the presidency: In 2016, I supported an outsider candidate, who was rough around the edges and in the Andrew Jackson school of controversial assaults on the old order. When my candidate won, it was blamed on the Russians. We now know (four years later) Hillary Clinton’s own team financed the total lie that fueled this attack. Members of the FBI twice engaged in criminal acts to help it along — once in avoiding prosecution of someone who had deleted 33,000 emails and had a subordinate use a hammer to physically destroy hard drives, and a second time by lying to FISA judges to destroy Gen. Michael Flynn and spy on then-candidate Donald Trump and his team. The national liberal media aided and abetted every step of the way. All this was purely an attempt to cripple the new president and lead to the appointment of a special counsel — who ultimately produced nothing. Now, people in my world are told it is time to stop resisting and cooperate with the new president. But we remember that the Democrats wanted to cooperate with Mr. Trump so much that they began talking about his impeachment before he even took office. The Washington Post ran a story on Democrat impeachment plots the day of the inauguration. In fact, nearly 70 Democratic lawmakers boycotted his inauguration. A massive left-wing demonstration was staged in Washington the day after, where Madonna announced she dreamed of blowing up the White House to widespread applause. These same forces want me to cooperate with their new president. I find myself adopting the Nancy Pelosi model of constant resistance. Nothing I have seen from Mr. Biden since the election offers me any hope that he will reach out to the more than 74 million Americans who voted for President Trump. So, I am not reacting to the votes so much as to the whole election environment. When Twitter and Facebook censored the oldest and fourth largest newspaper (founded by Alexander Hamilton) because it accurately reported news that could hurt Mr. Biden’s chances — where were The New York Times and The Washington Post? The truth of the Hunter Biden story is now becoming impossible to avoid or conceal. The family of the Democrat nominee for president received at least $5 million from an entity controlled by our greatest adversary. It was a blatant payoff, and most Americans who voted for Mr. Biden never heard of it — or were told before the election it was Russian disinformation. Once they did hear of it, 17% said they would have switched their votes, according to a poll by the Media Research Center. That’s the entire election. The censorship worked exactly as intended. Typically, newspapers and media outlets band together when press freedom is threatened by censorship. Where was the sanctimonious “democracy dies in darkness?” Tragically, The Washington Post is now part of the darkness. But this is just a start. When Twitter censors four of five Rush Limbaugh tweets in one day, I fear for the country. When these monolithic Internet giants censor the President of the United States, I fear for the country. When I see elite billionaires like Mark Zuckerburg are able to spend $400 million to hire city governments to maximize turnout in specifically Democratic districts — without any regard to election spending laws or good governance standards — I fear for the country. When I read that Apple has a firm rule of never irritating China — and I watch the NBA kowtow to Beijing, I fear for our country. When I watch story after story about election fraud being spiked — without even the appearance of journalistic due diligence or curiosity — I know something is sick. The election process itself was the final straw in creating the crisis of confidence which is accelerating and deepening for many millions of Americans. Aside from a constant stream of allegations of outright fraud, there are some specific outrages — any one of which was likely enough to swing the entire election. Officials in virtually every swing state broke their states’ own laws to send out millions of ballots or ballot applications to every registered voter. It was all clearly documented in the Texas lawsuit, which was declined by the U.S. Supreme Court based on Texas’ procedural standing — not the merits of the case. That’s the election. In addition, it’s clear that virtually every swing state essentially suspended normal requirements for verifying absentee ballots. Rejection rates were an order of magnitude lower than in a normal year. In Georgia, rejection rates dropped from 6.5% in 2016 to 0.2% in 2020. In Pennsylvania, it went from 1% in 2016 to .003% in 2020. Nevada fell from 1.6% to .75%. There is no plausible explanation other than that they were counting a huge number of ballots — disproportionately for Mr. Biden — that normally would not have passed muster. That’s the election. The entire elite liberal media lied about the timeline of the COVID-19 vaccine. They blamed President Trump for the global pandemic even as he did literally everything top scientists instructed. In multiple debates, the moderators outright stated that he was lying about the U.S. having a vaccine before the end of the year (note Vice President Mike Pence received it this week). If Americans had known the pandemic was almost over, that too was likely the difference in the election. The unanimously never-Trump debate commission spiked the second debate at a critical time in order to hurt President Trump. If there had been one more debate like the final one, it likely would have been pivotal. This is just the beginning. But any one of those things alone is enough for Trump supporters to think we have been robbed by a ruthless establishment — which is likely to only get more corrupt and aggressive if it gets away with these blatant acts. For more than four years, the entire establishment mobilized against the elected president of the United States as though they were an immune system trying to kill a virus. Now, they are telling us we are undermining democracy. You have more than 74 million voters who supported President Trump despite everything — and given the election mess, the number could easily be significantly higher. The truth is tens of millions of Americans are deeply alienated and angry. If Mr. Biden governs from the left — and he will almost certainly be forced to — that number will grow rapidly, and we will win a massive election in 2022. Given this environment, I have no interest in legitimizing the father of a son who Chinese Communist Party members boast about buying. Nor do I have any interest in pretending that the current result is legitimate or honorable. It is simply the final stroke of a four-year establishment-media power grab. It has been perpetrated by people who have broken the law, cheated the country of information, and smeared those of us who believe in America over China, history over revisionism, and the liberal ideal of free expression over cancel culture. I write this in genuine sorrow, because I think we are headed toward a serious, bitter struggle in America. This extraordinary, coordinated four-year power grab threatens the fabric of our country.
